Castle Espie Wildlife Wetlands, County Down, Northern Ireland
We adore wildlife and nature and love to visit nature parks and wildlife wetlands at any opportunity; Castle Espie Wetlands being such an occasion when we were on holiday in Northern Ireland. Although not on the same grand scale as Slimbridge in Gloucestershire spending the afternoon at the Wetlands made for a great day-out.
The duck pond just inside the entrance was teaming with bird life so we started with a quick sit-down while we feed the ducks and geese and other birds on the pond, and took a few photos. Then we slowly meandered along the paths around Limestone Lake, with views of the various lagoons and the sea beyond, and the salt marshes to one side in the distance.
Then continuing along the path we made our way pass the old Castle Espie Brickworks, down into the woods, through the pine forest to the swamp and then back around to the duck pond by the entrance where we had one final sit-down to feed the birds before making our way back to our holiday cottage above the bay in the foothills of the Mourne Mountains.

Giant Lego Bird and Animal Trail Castle Espie Wetland Centre
I'm just outside Comber Co Down to visit the wonderful Castle Espie Wetland Centre and see the beautifully detailed bird and animal trail. all the animals and birds have been painstakingly built using Lego children's bricks. Each bird and animal took long hours to build and each one is made up of thousands of coloured bricks. It is hoped that the inclusion of this fascinating exhibition will bring families closer to nature at the Centre
' The GIANT LEGO brick animal trail will be here from Saturday 11 February - Sunday 2 April with the sculptures sitting amongst some of their real life cousins!
The awesome models will form a trail for kids (and big kids) to inspire them to build a better future for nature. Visitors will be able to enjoy the trail of nine individually-designed 1.5m LEGO brick animals, some inspired by real species at Castle Espie Wetland Centre. Included are an Hawaiian Goose (the world's largest and rarest goose), a red breasted goose and a kingfisher.'

Slimbridge WWT - 24/11/2017
I filmed this on a late November day. The sun was shining and the birds were hungry and enjoying their food.
Slimbridge was set up by Sir Peter Scott. It is a wonderful Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust that helps the preservation of some wonderful and spectacular birds animals from around the world.
Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust outing in Arundel 20th May 2010
A warm but overcast day was the setting for the first outing of the year at the wildfowl and wetlands trust in Arundel. Most of us arrived at 11.30 just in time for lunch, except the mini bus who got held up. After lunch we set off on our journey around the lakes. We had bought some food for the ducks to eat, and made it our mission to feed every single bird, except the pigeons of course. Half way round there were a few hides followed by a long wooden boardwalk through the reed beds which was very interesting and at the end a boat ride. The boat could only take one wheelchair at a time, but they have three boats, however only one was running, which was a shame, as some people didn't have time to go on the boat. Then we returned to the center for a naughty but nice ice cream. A good day indeed many thanks to the organisers.

Island Hill Newtownards Co Down N Ireland
Found on the coastline half way between Comber and Newtownards is scenic Island Hill. A small island conneced to the mainland by a narrow man made concrete causeway which is submerged for hours with the incoming tide.
A great place to unwind and getavf back to nature because you are surrounded by wonderful coastal views of Strangford Lough, views of drumlin farmland and then you have also a vibrant bird life all the year round.
Seabirds, ducks and Geese abound especially in Winter.
