Whats up everyone! For my 25th Birthday me and the fam took off in a luxury 1935 Waco Biplane in St Augustine Florida!
The Waco is a true time machine it is a fully restored 1935 Custom Cabin Waco Biplane. The views from the Biplane are unmatched by any other flying machine. Where else can you fly in a true piece of aviation history in luxurious fashion over one of the most historic places in the USA! Sightseeing at its finest.
Between 1919 and 1947, in the midst of the Golden Age of Aviation, the WACO Aircraft Company of Troy, Ohio was the first family of aircraft manufacturing. Between World War I and World War II, WACO built almost twice as many aircraft as any other manufacturer, with more WACO's registered than the aircraft of any other company. The Waco Custom Cabins were a series of up-market single-engined four-to-five-seat cabin sesquiplanes of the late 1930s produced by the Waco Aircraft Company of the United States. Custom Cabin was Waco's own description of the aircraft which despite minor differences, were all fabric-covered biplanes.(wiki)

Real Flight 1942 UPF-7 WWII Waco Trainer Biplane - Key West, FL
A Dream come true....just a few days ago I prayed that God would grant me a open cockpit biplane flight one day...while on a Cruise to Key West, we were going to rent a Cessna to fly around the island but while waiting for our Instructor, we saw the trailer for Key West Biplanes and took the flight of a life time. It was eerily smooth, no wind or bumps, just completely calm air. We were truly flying in what could easily be a museum piece from WWII. The United States Army Air Corps - Adopted the Waco UPF-7 as the PT-14 trainer.
11:11 ***We got to fly over the US Army Special Forces Combat Diver School***
The Waco UPF-7 is an unusual airplane. This is not due to any outstanding technical features but to timing. A relatively obsolete design, it was built in quantity at a time when the open cockpit biplane trainer for civilian use was virtually extinct. Even then, it slipped into service unnoticed since it had no significant new features to arouse the interest of the contemporary aviation press.
Production of commercial biplane trainers virtually ended in Depression years of the early 1930s, and new low-powered monoplanes rapidly took their place in the schools and in private aviation. Only the Army and Navy were principal customers for biplane trainers in succeeding years. While Waco did not have a share of this market, it was one of the few firms that continued to supply open cockpit biplanes to private owners of the mid-1930s, a group comprising what could be considered a custom trade. Yet the UPF-7, introduced in the late twilight of the biplane era, was built in greater quantity than any single Waco model that preceded it. Approximately 600 came out of the Troy, Ohio factory between 1937 and 1942.

Dangerous landing in a military glider, type CG-4A (SFP 186)
Pilot or co- pilot injured when landing in a glider in 1945. Landing and unloading of several American gliders, that supplied the troops with material. One of the landings fails, the wing breaks off and the injured pilot is carried away by medics.
Gliders were of central importance to supply the troops with material. They were towed by motorized military aircraft and then released. Often they landed behind enemy lines.
The Waco CG-4 Haig (also known as Hadrian) was a commonly used gliders in the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II. The first flight tests began in 1942. Overall 15 companies including the Wicks Aircraft Company of Kansas City (Missouri) produced more than 12,000 CG-4A. 1,074 CG-4A were built by Waco Aircraft Company in Troy (Ohio ).
The CG-4A consisted of plywood and metal. Every glider was flown by a pilot and a copilot. Up to 13 soldiers could be transported with equipment or a jeep or a quarter-ton truck, or a 75-mm howitzer. The gliders were loaded on their unfolded bow section. After their landing, the aircrafts were immediately discharged and then abandoned. Normally, Curtiss C-46 or Douglas C-47 Dakota were used as tow planes.

SAC Air Show Part 2 - Late 40s B29, Waco Glider Demonstration
Part 2 of the 8mm movie of an air show at a Strategic Air Command base in the late 40s. The film is in terrible shape, but we do see a B29, the aftermath of a plane crash, and the highlightof the film, lots of a Waco glider, including a C46 flying pickup of a Waco!
Like I said earlier, the film is in terrible shape. Vinegar syndrome is so bad I could barely stand working with it. It is curled!

President Bush is coming Home
From West Texas to the White House; now, the White House back to Midland- President Bush is coming home. President Bush wants to end his Presidency the same way it started. The Tall City hosted a send off party back in January 2001 to celebrate the President going into office. Now, Midland is at it again. Only this time it's a welcome home party. Its an honor to be back home. I want to thank all those folks who came out in the crowd. I also want to thank all the folks that were at the airport when we were coming in for their wonderful hospitality. Laura and I are on a great journey, says President Bush. And, that journey is about to come full circle. President Bush said that at his send-off party in Midland in January 2001, just days before becoming President. When you finish a race like they have, first place, you want to come is home, says Former Commerce Secretary Don Evans. That's just what the President and First Lady are doing. Don Evans and I are here to announce the coming of the President he's going to be here on the 20th, says Mayor Wes Perry. President Bush is scheduled to go to President-Elect Barack Obama's inauguration in the morning, then, jump on a plane and come home. In away, Laura and I will never quite settle in Washington because while the honor is great the work is temporary. I'm leaving Texas, but not forever, says President Bush. The President and the First Lady said they would like to come back the same way and we're honored that it was his decision and we're excited to do this, says Perry. Evans says the President wants to end his Presidency strong and coming back to where it all started is the way to do it. Well let me just tell you that he's somebody that finished everyday strong, somebody that started everyday strong, says Evans. Both Mayor Perry and Evans anticipate that this welcome home party will be even bigger than his send off. Today's announcement was more of a save the date. Details of the welcome home party are still being worked out. We do know that the homecoming will be at Centennial Plaza in downtown Midland. You'll need a ticket to get in, but tickets are free. Tickets will be passed out around town but we don't know where just yet.

Johnny Horton
For other meanings see Johnny Horton.
John Gale Johnny Horton was an American country music and rockabilly singer most famous for his semi-folk, so-called saga songs which began the historical ballad craze of the late 1950s and early 1960s. With them, he had several major successes, most notably in 1959 with the song The Battle of New Orleans, which was awarded the 1960 Grammy Award for Best Country & Western Recording. The song was awarded the Grammy Hall of Fame Award and in 2001 ranked No. 333 of the Recording Industry Association of America's Songs of the Century. His first hit, a number 1 song in 1959, was When It's Springtime in Alaska.
