ChisholmCrossing.com: Suspension Bridge & Riverwalk - Waco, TX
Waco's Historic Suspension Bridge was the longest single-span suspension bridge west of the Mississippi when it was completed in 1870. The bridge was built with cable supplied by the John Roebling Co., who built the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City. Crucial to traders and travelers for well over a century, the bridge stands as an icon of Waco history and is the centerpiece of many community festivals and events including the 4th on the Brazos celebration and Brazos Nights concerts.
The bridge is flanked by two great Waco parks — Indian Spring Park on the west side, and Martin Luther King, Jr. park on the east side.
The bridge also serves as a great venue for parties and special events. Rental information can be obtained by calling the City of Waco Parks & Recreation Dept. at (254) 750-8080.
The River Walk on the west side of the river extends from Ft. Fisher Park, past the Historic Suspension Bridge and continues for an additional 1-1/2 mile to the Herring Ave. bridge. The completion of the River Walk on the east bank of the river allows visitors to walk or jog the River Walk loop and enjoy the view from both sides of the river.

About Waco Texas | Greater Waco Chamber
Welcome to Waco. A city in the heart of Texas, Waco is one of seven metropolitan areas in the Texas Triangle mega-region - which means 81 percent of the state’s 23 million people live within 200 miles of Waco.
Not only are we centrally located, but Greater Waco is home to one university and two colleges, and has two non-profit acute-care hospitals (Providence Healthcare Network and Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Hillcrest). We also enjoy a wide range of cultural arts and museums, and feature a variety of attractions and outdoor activities ranging from the Texas Ranger Museum to the mountain biking and equestrian trails that twist and turn through Cameron Park. There is even an 18-hole disc golf course that follows the Brazos River! So come on out to visit. You never know, you may just stay a while and call Waco home. #wacotx #explorewaco
