Wadi Araba Desert in Aqaba, Jordan
Wadi Araba is a 150 kilometer stretch of land from the Dead Sea to Aqaba. The desert is part of the Great Rift Valley and - in Jordan - rises to heights of 450 meters and dips to less 400 meters below sea level. You will encounter some semi-arid land as well as the classic desert sand dunes with palm trees.
The region is warmer than most of Jordan and only sparsely populated. It is quite possible to roam the desert here without encountering another soul apart from perhaps the odd Bedouin out with his herd of animals.
We enjoy sharing this special place in the world with visitors very much as it's one of our favorite spots, too. You can explore the area by Jeep, on foot or atop a camel, horse, donkey or mule!
There is no accommodation available in Wadi Araba, but we are entitled to set up camps here for you. We'll be sleeping under the stars, as you enjoy a Bedouin meal over open fire.
The huge eastern deserts of Jordan are mostly stony plains of limestone or basalt, but much of the southern desert is sand, presaging the dunes and vast emptiness of the Arabian interior. In the far south, squeezed onto Jordan’s only stretch of coastline, Aqaba forms a pleasant urban counterpoint to the breathtaking marine flora and fauna which thrive in the warm Red Sea waters just offshore. The real highlights, though, lie inland. You shouldn’t leave Jordan without spending time in the extraordinary desert moonscape of Wadi Rum, haunt of Lawrence of Arabia and starting point for camel treks into the red sands, while the award-winning ecolodge at Feynan makes a fabulous hideaway for walks, cultural encounters and off-the-beaten-track exploration in the little-visited Wadi Araba desert.
Two of the three north–south highways connecting Amman with Aqaba are desert roads, and only really of interest as access routes to and from southern Jordan. The easternmost of the three, the so-called desert highway, follows the line of the old Hejaz Railway and serves as a demarcation boundary between well-watered hills to the west and the open desert. The westernmost of the three is the Wadi Araba road, which hugs the line of the Israeli border south of the Dead Sea.

Aqaba to Eilat Border Crossing / How To Do It
Here are my tips for crossing the border from Aqaba, Jordan to Eilat, Israel.
This is a very useful website
Firstly, the border stays open until 8pm, so you have plenty of time in case you are delayed or late. You will cross through what looks like military zone on the Jordanian side, and a solider might search you, don't be worried. This is strictly protocol.

Next, you will get to the Jordanian border control, this is fairly routine, but the question is whether or not you will have to pay an exit fee. As a US citizen, I for one reason or another, did not pay a fee. I spent 5 days in Jordan and arrived by plane into Amman. It's best to hold on to 10 JD just in case they charge a fee.
You then walk to the Israeli side. They'll do a search of your belongings through a metal detector and perhaps open your bags, but do not be alarmed. Then you'll get to passport control and get asked a few questions, do not give too long answers, just a simple, hello, I'm here for tourism.
They'll issue you a tourist card and not a passport stamp, do not lose it!
From there talk the cab driver into taking you to Eilat for 35 shekels or less, anything more is charging to much from my research and opinion.
Best of Luck!

Wadi Rum Jeep Tour - Jordan Desert in 4K
Wadi Rum ( وادي رم Wādī Ramm, Valley of (light, airborne) sand, the Roman Valley, the Valley of the Moon) is a valley cut into the sandstone and granite rock in southern Jordan east of Aqaba.
Shots of Wadi Rum in Lawrence of Arabia from 1962 kick-started Jordan's tourism industry.
Wadi Rum is home to the Zalabia Bedouin who, working with climbers and trekkers, have made a success of developing eco-adventure tourism as their main source of income. The area is one of Jordan's important tourist destinations, and attracts an increasing number of foreign tourists, particularly trekkers and climbers, but also for camel and horse safari or simply day-trippers from Aqaba or Petra. Its luxury camping retreats have also spurred more tourism to the area. Popular activities in the desert environment include camping under the stars, riding Arabian horses, hiking and rock-climbing among the massive rock formations. All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) and Jeeps are also available and new camps have opened that offer accommodation for tourists.
