Art walk in Örebro (Open Art) - Part 1
I had some trouble show all art work because it's all over the city :) Will show it in the coming videos.
Sorry for the weird editing, I have a new update for my editor and I cant really see what im doing. I hope it will get better in the coming videos.
OpenART is Scandinavia’s largest biennial for contemporary art, taking place during 12 summer weeks in Örebro. It is a biennial that revolts against traditional urban spaces, encourages creativity, and gives us the opportunity to experience the city from completely new perspectives. Works of art invade the city’s streets, squares, parks and waterways, taking over cultural scenes, shopping centres, building facades and Örebro Castle. When contemporary art becomes this accessible to the public, it promotes a dialogue about what art means to society. The exhibition invites both established and up-and-coming artists from around the world.
Örebro Castle
Örebro Castle (Swedish: Örebro slott) is a medieval castle fortification in Örebro, Närke, Sweden. It was expanded during the reign of the royal family Vasa (House of Vasa) and finally rebuilt about 1900. The castle lies on an island in river Svartån. Some of the rooms are used as classrooms for pupils from Karolinska Skolan.
For over 700 years, Örebro Castle has kept a watchful eye on everyone crossing the bridge on the River Svartån. The oldest part of the castle, a defence tower, was erected in the latter half of the 13th century.
This tower was added to in the 14th century to make a larger stronghold, and towards the end of the 16th century most of the impressive castle we see today was built.
The name of Örebro comes from the small stones, called ör in Swedish, that a river transports. The second part of the word comes from the bridge (bro) that was built over this fjord. Important roads passed by this strategic place because from here one could control the traffic and the trade in the inner parts of Sweden.
In 1364 Albrecht von Mecklenburg captured a fortress in Örebro. That was probably a predecessor of today's castle, which was built on the small island within the Svartå (Black river). The fortress is supposed to have consisted of a defence tower with a surrounding wall, but no one knows exactly when it was built. Many important events in Swedish history took place there.[citation needed] For over two hundred years it has been the residence of the county governor, but a great deal of the castle is open to the general public, with offerings of art, music, food, exhibitions, guided tours, conferences, and more.
Wadköping Encore - Photography
Wadköping is a wonderful and very quaint little town on the outskirts of Örebro, on the banks of the Svartån river in Sweden, where many houses from the 17th, 18th and 19th century have been moved to one spot and turned into an open-air museum. Very picturesque and free to visit. Photographed by Maggie Terlecki

Gothenburg Swedish: Göteborgs the second-largest city in Sweden, fifth-largest in the Nordic countries, and capital of the Västra Götaland County. It is situated by Kattegat, on the west coast of Sweden, and has a population of approximately 570,000 in the city center and about 1 million inhabitants in the metropolitan area. The city council of 1641 consisted of four Swedish, three Dutch, three German, and two Scottish members. In Dutch, Scots, English, and German, all languages with a long history in this trade and maritime-oriented city, the name Gothenburg is or was (in the case of German) used for the city. Variations of the official German/English name Gothenburg in the city's 1621 charter existed or exist in many languages. The French form of the city name is Gothembourg, but in French texts, the Swedish name Göteborg is more frequent. Gothenburg can also be seen in some older English texts. In Spanish and Portuguese the city is called Gotemburgo. These traditional forms are sometimes replaced with the use of the Swedish Göteborg, for example by The Göteborg Opera and the Göteborg Ballet. However, Göteborgs universitet, previously designated as the Göteborg University in English, changed its name to the University of Gothenburg in 2008. The Gothenburg municipality has also reverted to the use of the English name in international contexts.
