A Weekend in Auckland Part 1
The oysters plucked straight from the clear waters of the Hauraki Gulf at
Clevedon Coast Oysters are some of the freshest you’ll ever taste. It’s only a 30-
minute drive back to Auckland city.
Federal Delicatessen is chef Al Brown’s take on an old-school New York deli, but
he uses fresh local produce. And yes, of course there’s bottomless coffee. Don’t
leave without a slice of pie for dessert.
Waiheke Island is sometimes referred to as the “Byron Bay of New Zealand”. It’s
an island paradise only a 40-minute ferry ride away. After you’ve indulged at one
of the island’s many wineries you should definitely retire to the Tent House.
Chris Tate Architecture designed this stunning one-bedroom house that
overlooks native trees.
One of Waiheke Island’s best beaches is Garden Cove. You can hire kayaks and
explore the surrounding coves and canyons. There are sunset tours if you’re
after something even more picturesque.
