Today we are making our way from Opotiki in the Bay of Plenty all the way back to Gisborne in the Tairawhiti Gisborne region, otherwise known as Eastland or the East Cape. To get to Gisborne to Opotiki or vice versa, you can take the scenic inland route through the Waioeka Gorge. It’s one of the most scenic roads in New Zealand and one of the most underrated scenic routes in New Zealand. If you’re looking for an off-the-beaten-track road trip in the North Island, then don’t miss the Waioeka Gorge Scenic Reserve.
