☆Bits of knowledge〜Tsurugaoka Hachimangu〜
Tsurugaoka Hachimangu was established by Minamoto Yoriyoshi (源 頼義, 988-1075) in 1063. He built a power base for the Minamoto warrior clan in the east of Japan after the suppression of a rebellion started by clans in the North East of Japan in 1051. He returned to Kamakura, and built a small shrine for the Hachiman kami (the Japanese word for Shinto deities) near the coast to give thanks for success in suppressing the rebellion. The Hachiman kami was regarded as the protector kami of the warrior class.
The current Tsurugaoka Hachimangu owes its origins to Yoriyoshi’s descendant, Minamoto Yoritomo (源 頼朝, 1147-1199), head of the Minamoto clan. Yoritomo came to Kamakura in 1180 to raise the flag of revolt against the Taira clan which had come to dominate Japanese politics in Kyoto especially after 1160. The reason Yoritomo chose Kamakura as his base was because it was here that his great ancestor had successfully put down the 1063 rebellion. He moved the shrine to the present site and built a more magnificent shrine. This new shrine was called Tsurugaoka Wakamiya (鶴岡若宮), which means the new shrine at Tsurugaoka.

Idea:
In a visit to home for the aged few years ago, I heard an elderly lady telling me a story which killing her softly. She has been fighting for life when she was young. She was busy at work every day and has never traveled anywhere. She now always wanted to go vacation as her friends always tell her that Japan is a very interesting and beautiful place. Although she is already over seventy year old and still healthy, she doesn’t have enough money for vacation. After a volunteer lady knew her story, that lady made her a Japanese photo album which deeply touched by her thoughtfulness.
Today, I have the idea of doing YOUTUBE, thinking about what kind of channel I should start. As I love to travel, just make a traveling record channel! This idea reminds me the old lady in the home for aged and her story has given me more meaning to do this YOUTUBE channel.

Kamakura- One Day Trip to Kamakura
The average travel time between Tokyo and Kamakura ranges from 60 to 90 min. There are three train lines that connect the two cities.
I used JR Yokosuka Line. The fastest way to Kamakura.
The Great Buddha at Kotokuin Temple is Kamakura’s most popular attraction. Also called Daibutsu, this is the second tallest Buddha in Japan (the tallest is in Todaiji Temple in Nara).
Hase-Dera Temple - Beautiful temple located on a hillside overlooking the ocean. The best part of Hase-Dera is seeing the hundreds of small statues of the Jizo Bodhisattva that line the walkways up the hillside.
Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine- is the most important shrine in Kamakura. Its extensive grounds contain a number of sub-shrines and several museums.
Tsurugaoka Hachimangu can be approached along the picturesque, cherry-tree lined Wakamiya-Oji leading from Yuigahama Beach south to the shrine.
Hon Matsuri
On Matsuri is undoubtedly Nara's biggest event.
The Kasuga Wakamiya On-Matsuri, held every year from December 15th -18th, uninterrupted since the 12th Century, is an elegant festival full of traditional culture and history. The main event, which is held on the 17th, draws massive crowds with everyone jostling for position to obtain prime views of the Jidai Gyoretsu (Procession of the Eras)
Komachi Dori shopping street, Kamakura
The video give a tour of Komachi Dori shopping street in Kamakura. I walk from the station to the end of the street looking at all that’s on offer.
【KAMAKURA】Food
In the neighborhood of Kamakura Komachi Dori, there are many shops where you can buy and eat things on the spot.
