He used to live in Nara Prefecture, but political scandals sent him to the south Kagoshima.
On his way to Kagoshima, assassinates attack almost killed him, but many boars saved his life. For this reason, you can see several boar statues at the shrine.

This is the best season to visit the shrine.
I came to the shrine and took the video on 6 May 2015. The most of wisteria flowers are gone, but I could manage to find the LAST wisteria flower!

Just across the road of Wake Shrine, you can walk to see INUKAI waterfall. It is said Mr. Ryoma Sakamoto came here on his honeymoon. The splash water is beautiful. It is very cool even in the middle of summer thanks to the mist of waterfall.

In this video we’ll show you Kamigamo Shrine (上賀茂神社), Kyoto.
Kamo-wake-ikazuchi-Jinja in the Kita Ward of Kyoto is the oldest Shinto shrine in the ancient city. Since prehistoric times Kamigamo-jinja has preserved and transmitted the legends relating to the birth of the shrine deity, Wakeikazuchi.
Ancient rituals which transmit faith in the divine mountan, Kamo Sai also known as Aoi Matsuri which started during the reign of Emperor Kinmei in 544, and the shrine buildings retaining the style of the early Heian Period, all convey the history of the province of Yamashiro (southern Kyoto Prefecture).
Most of the shrine complex (totaling 690,000m2) has been designated as Preservation Area of Historic Landscape by the municipal government and as a Historic Site by the national government. The area contains many large trees such as ichii oaks, suda chinquappins and weeping cherry trees.
Here, nature and cultural properties coexist in harmony. On December 17, 1994, Kamigamo-jinja was officially registered as a World Cultural Heritages Site in recognition of its importance as a monument of ancient Kyoto.
Kyoto, The capital of Japan, called Heiankyo, was established in 794. Kamo-wake-ikazuchi-Jinja, Kamo Mioyajinja, Toji Temple, Kiyomizu Temple and Enryakuji Temple first appeared in the new capital during this time.
Kyoto is known worldwide as a treasure house of cultural properties, including National Treasures, Special Historical Sites and Special Places of Scenic Beauty which represent each period of the city's 1200-year history from its establishment at the beginning of the Heian Period. Infact, Kyoto possesses the largest concentration of cultural properties in Japan.

South Korean protesters gathered outside the Japanese embassy in Seoul on Thursday, calling on Japan to apologise for past wartime action.
The protesters set fire to placards with pictures of Japanese leaders next to Nazi Swastikas, and held up posters reading boycott Japanese.
Anti-Japan activist Park Chan-sung urged the Japanese government to apologise and compensate for Japan's glamorisation of Japan's history of invasion during the Second World War.
The renewed demands came as senior Japanese government officials visited a shrine to Japan's war dead on the anniversary of the end of World War II.
South Korea views the Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo, and the museum it houses, as a glorification of Japan's wartime past.
Japan has repeatedly apologised for its wartime actions, but the shrine remains a flashpoint nearly 70 years after Emperor Hirohito issued his proclamation surrendering to Allied forces on August 15, 1945.
The South Korean government criticised Japan's leaders for their visit to the shrine on Thursday.
It is regrettable that the Japanese politicians and cabinet members visited and paid respect to the Yasukuni Shrine, which glamorises Japan's history of imperialistic invasion, said South Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman Cho Tai-young.
This action shows that they are turning a blind eye to history, he added.
Cho urged the Japanese government to take the lead in healing past wounds in order to earn the trust of neighbouring nations.

Plus,... U.S. President Barack Obama sends a four trillion dollar budget proposal to Congress that seeks to raise taxes on wealthier Americans and corporations and increase domestic spending.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has raised the possibility of Japan′s military playing a more active role in rescuing its citizens abroad... in the wake of the killing of two Japanese men by the extremist terror group, Islamic State.
Speaking at a parliamentary committee on Monday, Abe said that ensuring the safety of Japanese citizens is the responsibility of the government, and he was the person who holds the most responsibility.
He told the committee that he wants to discuss a framework for rescuing Japanese who are in danger in foreign lands.
Abe wants Japan to have the right to collective self-defense,... easing pacifist laws and allowing Japan′s military to fight overseas to help allies under attack.
The Japanese leader wants to push through his military reforms this year.
Abe reiterated his condemnation of the militants and stressed Tokyo was committed to fighting terrorism and that it needed to be able to protect its citizens.

Yoo is more critical of the current administration than his opponent Lee, who was considered a pro-Park Geun-hye candidate.
Yoo′s election comes as the president′s approval rating have slipped to one of its lowest, hovering just above some 30 percent.
Upon winning the election, Yoo emphasized the importance of direct communication with the presidential office and the government.

和気神社 [霧島] Wake Jinja （平成24年10月13日）
宇佐八幡神託事件で道鏡の皇位継承を阻止した和気清麿呂公を祀っています。勅使として、宇佐八幡宮の御神託を戴いた清麿公は都に戻り復奏しますが、道鏡の怒りを買い追放されます。道中、道鏡の使者に命を狙われるも、白い猪の群れに助けられ当地に着いたとされています。後に清麿呂公は都に戻り復権しますが、その流謫された地は不明となります。嘉永6年(1853)、薩摩藩主の島津斉彬公が、この地が和気清麻呂公流謫の地として調査確定。明治以降、清麻呂公の精忠の思想は世に浮上し、皇紀二千六百年を機に神社建立の気運が昂まり、昭和17年の創立許可が下り、昭和21年3月御鎮座されました。近くの滝の下流には縁りの和気湯、腰掛石があります。
