The Wakefield Covered Bridge Run, La Pêche Québec
The Wakefield Covered Bridge Run will take you through some of Wakefield’s most beautiful and picturesque landscapes. Whether you’re running in the half marathon or 10km trail run through Gatineau Park, or crossing the historical covered bridge in any one of our other 3 running events, we promise a safe, challenging and unique running experience. Your participation in the Wakefield Covered Bridge Run will help raise funds for the Wakefield Recreation Association in the Municipality of La Pêche. Over the past 5 years this run has raised $38,055 which goes to the ongoing commitment of the Recreation Association supporting a healthy community through the outdoor sports facilities and activities at the Wakefield Centre La Pêche.

Tommy wins Wakefield Covered Bridge 10k Race 2013
Tommy won 1st place in this 10k run on a perfect sunny day! Afterwards, at the cottage, Tommy sang happily about being the 1st Fastest Runner in the World :) Thanks to the organizer of the Wakefield race for a great event!

Wakefield, Quebec | CARLYLEWANDERING
For this first of Wandering Onwards I headed to Wakefield then stayed in Chelsea, Quebec. My goals for launching this project were and will remain simple, (i) be outdoors; (ii) explore somewhere new; (iii) document the experience. Also, to enjoy some great burgers (thanks to Le Hibou and Chelsea Pub).
Wakefield is a beautiful place. Had it been more convenient I would have enjoyed travelling by kayak (definitely worth a return to do). It felt like a place where people appreciated their surroundings and didn't let life lead to worry.
I had intended to explore Gatineau as well, however, being new to this whole high-km biking my legs gave out. This is likely a blessing in disguise though because now I can do a full weekend just in Gatineau Hills.
When doing new things, most important is starting. That is the only way to collect insights on where you'd like to go and can naturally end up.

Wakefield Adventure
Wakefield is a scenic village and one of the first to be established along the River of Gatineau. It is a wonderful mixture of historical sites and nature that give tourists a relaxing vibe. We visited the place to feature some of the must go to places and local cuisine. Tell us how you think about this video and of Wakefield. Which village/town should we visit next? One fine summer day we spent nice day out in this small town.
Not a fancy place but charming with surrounding lakes and mountains.
Next time we'll jump dive into that water from the bridge.
We didn't this time since we didn't bring swimming suits.
Wakefield is a short drive from Ottawa Capital region, just across Ottawa river.
If you are around Ottawa, Ontario, in summer you should visit this small charming town.
