I've spent a few days in Hallstat (UNESCO World Heritage) - Austria, to capture a short time-lapse movie, while exploring the beautiful village.Not only did I try to capture this outstanding little town on the side of the mountains, I also wanted to show you the surrounding nature like the Waldbachstrub-Waterfall in the Eschental.

During the 3 days of my stay in Hallstatt, I shot around 7.000 Photos (which equals roughly 200 Gigabyte of required diskspace). Also I broke a ton of equipment while shooting it (Slider, Remote, Filters, ...). Sadly the weather wasn't that good for time-lapse.

Hallstatt is a village in Austria's mountainous Salzkammergut region. Its 16th-century Alpine houses and Gothic Catholic church sit on Lake Hallstatt's western shore. A funicular connects to Salzwelten, an ancient salt mine with a subterranean salt lake and multimedia presentations on the village's mining history. To the west, a trail leads to the Echern Valley with its glacial potholes and Waldbachstrub Waterfall.

The community at Hallstatt exploited the salt mines in the area, which had been worked from time to time since the Neolithic period, from the 8th to 5th centuries BC. The style and decoration of the grave goods found in the cemetery are very distinctive, and artifacts made in this style are widespread in Europe. In the mine workings themselves, the salt has preserved many organic materials such as textiles, wood and leather, and many abandoned artefacts such as shoes, pieces of cloth, and tools including miner's backpacks, have survived in good condition.
