It's an open air museum and I think it's one of the best places to visit in Wales! We take a look at the new visitor centre, then we explore the historic buildings, including St Fagan's castle, the Iron Age roundhouses and the farm.

Cardiff Castle in Cardiff Wales Going up The Keep
We visit Cardiff, Wales! We were on holiday in the UK. Today, we enter the Cardiff Castle. Very nice castle, and worth a visit. We could walk here from where we were staying (Premier Inn Cardiff City Center). Climbing up to the keep was pretty steep, but worth it, as the views were not bad from up there! Enjoy!
Cardiff Castle (Welsh: In welsh Caerdydd) is a medieval castle and Victorian Gothic revival mansion located in the city centre of Cardiff, Wales. The original motte and bailey castle was built in the late 10th century by Norman invaders on top of a 3rd-century Roman fort. The castle was commissioned either by William the Conqueror or by Robert Fitzhamon, and formed the heart of the medieval town of Cardiff and the Marcher Lord territory of Glamorgan. In the 12th century the castle began to be rebuilt in stone, probably by Robert of Gloucester, with a shell keep and substantial defensive walls being erected. Further work was conducted by The 6th Earl of Gloucester in the second half of the 13th century. Cardiff Castle was repeatedly involved in the conflicts between the Anglo-Normans and the Welsh, being attacked several times in the 12th century, and stormed in 1404 during the revolt of Owain Glyndŵr.
After being held by the de Clare and Despenser families for several centuries, the castle was acquired by The 13th Earl of Warwick and Comte de Aumale in 1423. Lord Warwick conducted extensive work on the castle, founding the main range on the west side of the castle, dominated by a tall octagonal tower. Following the Wars of the Roses, the status of the castle as a Marcher territory was revoked and its military significance began to decline. The Herbert family took over the property in 1550, remodelling parts of the main range and carrying out construction work in the outer bailey, then occupied by Cardiff's Shire Hall and other buildings. During the English Civil War Cardiff Castle was initially taken by a Parliamentary force, but was regained by Royalist supporters in 1645. When fighting broke out again in 1648, a Royalist army attacked Cardiff in a bid to regain the castle, leading to the Battle of St Fagans just outside the city. Cardiff Castle escaped potential destruction by Parliament after the war and was instead garrisoned, probably to protect against a possible Scottish invasion.
In the mid-18th century, Cardiff Castle passed into the hands of the Stuart dynasty, Marquesses of Bute. John, 1st Marquess of Bute, employed Capability Brown and Henry Holland to renovate the main range, turning it into a Georgian mansion, and to landscape the castle grounds, demolishing many of the older medieval buildings and walls. During the first half of the 19th century the family became extremely wealthy as a result of the growth of the coal industry in Glamorgan. However, it was The 3rd Marquess of Bute who truly transformed the castle, using his vast wealth to back an extensive programme of renovations under William Burges. Burges remodelled the castle in a Gothic revival style, lavishing money and attention on the main range. The resulting interior designs are considered to be amongst the most magnificent that the gothic revival ever achieved.[2] The grounds were re-landscaped and, following the discovery of the old Roman remains, reconstructed walls and a gatehouse in a Roman style were incorporated into the castle design. Extensive landscaped parks were built around the outside of the castle.
In the early 20th century, The 4th Marquess of Bute inherited the castle and construction work continued into the 1920s. The Bute lands and commercial interests around Cardiff were sold off or nationalised until, by the time of the Second World War, little was left except the castle. During the war, extensive air raid shelters were built in the castle walls; they could hold up to 1,800 people. When the Marquess died in 1947, the castle was given to the City of Cardiff. Today the castle is run as a tourist attraction, with the grounds housing the Firing Line regimental museum and interpretation centre. The castle has also served as a venue for events, including musical performances and festivals.

Homeless Man Sleeping Rough in Cardiff, Wales Used to Be a Registered Nurse
Derek is homeless in Cardiff, Wales in the United Kingdom. At the time of this interview, Derek was sleeping rough for about a year and a half. This is his second time experiencing homelessness. Derek says he got married and that saved him. He was off the streets for nine years!
Derek is not ashamed to say that he was addicted to heroin and alcohol. He has now been sober seven months and he has not used opioids in over nine years!
After his first experience with homelessness, Derek went back to college and became a registered nurse. He is currently working with homeless agencies in Cardiff to get rehoused. Derek plans to get back to work.
Derek lives in a tent. Recently, Tory councillor Kathryn Kelloway tweet that people should tear down the tents in Cardiff people are sleeping in. Her ignorance of homelessness is common and it's why educating the public and politicians is so very important.
Sadly, one of the news stories about Kathryn Kelloway tweet features Andy, who when I left Cardiff was sleeping inside at a hostel (homeless shelter) but is now back outside sleeping rough. Here is Andy's original video and here is the news story

GORGE WALK AND TOMBSTONING NEAR BRECON CARDIFF & SWANSEA WALES
Well, these guys rolled up, a little late and a little heavy of head due to a lte night but well up for a fine day out in the gorge. It was a sunny day and there is not much written description needed as the video is a pretty good reflection of the day.
Wales Outdoors runs gorge walks and coasteering as well as plenty of other adventurous activities in South Wales, the Brecon Beacons, North Wales and across the UK. This one is thirty minutes or so from brecon, Cardiff, Swansea and Bridgend so easy to get to from major cities and te M4.
We run our activities to a very high standard. Along with three other companies that we work in partnership with, we lead in kit provision and staff ratios and all three of us have exemplary accident and incident records with no reported accidents and only minor incidents, like the small cut on the finger in this video.
Gorge walking, our gorge walk, gorge scrambling, tombstoning, ghyll scrambling, canyoning or river walking, call it what you will, is one of our favourite activities both to take part in and deliver.

Join us from Cardiff, Wales as we cover 10 things to do in Cardiff city including popular attractions, cool castes, green escapes, and Welsh food worth trying in this travel guide. Although we were sick for most of our visit to Cardiff, UK we ended up still finding enough time to visit the city center, our neighborhood and a few off-the-beaten path attractions.
What we loved most about Cardiff, Wales is just how friendly the locals here are in the supermarkets, restaurants, pubs and cafe that we frequented. On a rainy day we might put on the kettle, down a few Welsh cakes and pop open our umbrella for a wee stroll. When it was sunny, which fortunately for us was most of the time, we enjoyed exploring castles and arcades while wandering around in parks.
Cardiff is a city you appreciate the more you linger. You start to find favorite cafes, restaurants and pubs you return to frequently and after a while you feel more like a local after recognizing faces in and around your neighborhood. This is what we'll remember most and why we recommend visiting Cardiff which is a city with more of a town vibe.

10 Things to do in Cardiff, Wales Travel Guide Video Script:
Well hello hello from Cardiff, Wales. New destination for us. New destination. It is our very first time to Wales and we're so excited to be here. We've wanted to come to Wales for a really long time and we're going to explore Cardiff and show you guys what you can do here in this travel guide.
We started our visit of Cardiff Castle with a self-guided tour of the Castle Apartments. This is the newest-looking part of the castle as it was renovated in the early 19th century in the Gothic revival style. As part of the tour we got to see the Banqueting Hall, the Library, and a few different rooms, but the place that really caught our attention was the Arab room designed in a Moorish style which is quite different from the rest of the rooms.
We continued on to the Norman Keep, which dates to the 11th century. The 12-sided structure sits atop a hill and is surrounded by a moat, and if you climb to the very top you get some nice 360 degree views of the city.
And lastly, we visited the roman walls, and although these too have been renovated, the foundations date back to 50 AD.
And that’s it for our visit to Cardiff, Wales. Our trip was short and sweet but we hope this video gave you a few ideas of things to do in Cardiff on your own visit. ARCHERY IN WALES - THE BRECON BEACONS & CARDIFF
I'm not really sure what drives people towards certain activities - I guess if I knew I'd be a millionairre - and my assertion that journalists lead activity fashion I think is relying to heavily on an influence that I now think they do not have. Some years it's mostly gorge walking, some canoeing. The last couple of years it has been coasteering. This year though is seeing the rise of Archery, and there hasn't even been a new Robin Hood film released.
The May Bank Holiday weekend I was working at a National Trust property in West Wales, Llandeilo to be precise, delivering short archery taster session to families out in the grounds for the day.
Yesterday I had a meeting with the Galnusk Estate and will be delivering archery for families staying at the estate, management team building events and as side shows at Horse trial Events. Glanusk Estate is a marvelous 400 acre site of farm and landscapped parkland - you probably have heard of it through the Green Man Festival which is held there every year.
I am a Grand National Archery Society archer - a rather onerous five day training course got me that title - but I am not into all of the fiddly and expensive kit. Give me a simple bow and a 20 metre range and I am happy. I am of the archery for fun school of thought, not as a hunting skill or as a serious competition. Although I do like bursting bollons attached to the target :)
