The Pub With No Beer Festival
Since 1875, on this site, at 58 Lannercost St. Ingham, Cardwell Publican, Jack Vickars, built the first Telegraph Station which also served as a pub and hotel for the locals. By 1885 it was transformed into a two storey building and renamed the Day Dawn Hotel.
During the World War II period, it was the first hotel encountered by troop convoys as they passed through town. Upon their arrival, regardless of the hour, owners Gladys and Eric Harvey, opened the bar for service. Because of the War, the hotels beer supply was restricted by quotas and on one hot thirsty day, the troops drank the bar dry. Amazed at being unable to buy a beer at his favourite pub that day, local poet Dan Sheahan wrote the poem A Pub With No Beer.
In 1957 the song A Pub With No Beer sung by Slim Dusty became Australia's first worldwide No.1 hit song based upon the original verses of Dan Sheahan's historic poem.
In 1960, the Day Dawn Hotel was restructured and upgraded into the current building and renamed Lees Hotel.
In 2011 the owners ,Charles & Trish Ryman have been carrying out the largest refurbishment program on the Hotel since it was rebuilt over 50 years ago.
In 2005, as it stands today, Lees Hotel was formally recognised by The Queensland National Trust and granted iconic status as
the original ' Pub With No Beer '.

Country music
Country music is a genre of American popular music that originated in Southern United States in the 1920s. It takes its roots from the southeastern genre of American folk music and Western music. Blues modes have been used extensively throughout its recorded history. Country music often consists of ballads and dance tunes with generally simple forms and harmonies accompanied by mostly string instruments such as banjos, electric and acoustic guitars, fiddles, and harmonicas.
The term country music gained popularity in the 1940s in preference to the earlier term hillbilly music; it came to encompass Western music, which evolved parallel to hillbilly music from similar roots, in the mid-20th century. The term country music is used today to describe many styles and sub genres. The origins of country music are the folk music of mostly white, working-class Americans, who blended popular songs, Irish and Celtic fiddle tunes, traditional ballads, and cowboy songs, along with African American blues and various musical traditions from European immigrant communities. In 2009 country music was the most listened to rush hour radio genre during the evening commute, and second most popular in the morning commute in the United States.

SUMMARY
=======
Nashville is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Tennessee. The city is the county seat of Davidson County and is located on the Cumberland River. The city's population ranks 24th in the U.S. According to 2017 estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau, the total consolidated city-county population stood at 691,243. The balance population, which excludes semi-independent municipalities within Davidson County, was 667,560 in 2017.Located in northern Middle Tennessee, Nashville is the major city of the largest metropolitan area in Tennessee. The 2017 population of the entire 14-county Nashville metropolitan area was 1,903,045. The 2017 population of the Nashville–Davidson–Murfreesboro–Columbia combined statistical area, a larger trade area, was 2,027,489.Named for Francis Nash, a general of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, the city was founded in 1779. The city grew quickly due to its strategic location as a port on the Cumberland River and, in the 19th century, a railroad center. Nashville seceded with Tennessee during the American Civil War; in 1862 it was the first state capital in the Confederacy to fall to Union troops. After the war, the city reclaimed its position and developed a manufacturing base.
Since 1963, Nashville has had a consolidated city-county government, which includes six smaller municipalities in a two-tier system. The city is governed by a mayor, a vice-mayor, and a 40-member metropolitan council; 35 of the members are elected from single-member districts, while the other five are elected at-large. Reflecting the city's position in state government, Nashville is home to the Tennessee Supreme Court's courthouse for Middle Tennessee, one of the three divisions.
Nashville is a center for the music, healthcare, publishing, private prison, banking, and transportation industries. It is home to numerous colleges and universities, such as Tennessee State University, Vanderbilt University, Belmont University, Fisk University, and Lipscomb University. Entities with headquarters in the city include Asurion, Bridgestone Americas, Captain D's, CoreCivic, Dollar General, Hospital Corporation of America, LifeWay Christian Resources, Logan's Roadhouse, and Ryman Hospitality Properties.
Simon Bradley: The Railways | Talks at Google
Simon Bradley: The Railways: Nation, Network and People
Recorded in London, October 2015
Simon Bradley is joint editor of the celebrated Pevsner Architectural Guides, to which he has contributed a number of notable revised volumes. He started trainspotting aged eleven, and his interest in railways has broadened and endured. He is the author of St Pancras Station (Profile), and lives in London.
Britain's railways have been a vital part of national life for nearly 200 years. Transforming lives and landscapes, they have left their mark on everything from timekeeping to tourism. As a self-contained world governed by distinctive rules and traditions, the network also exerts a fascination all its own.
From the classical grandeur of Newcastle station to the ceaseless traffic of Clapham Junction, from the mysteries of Brunel's atmospheric railway to the lost routines of the great marshalling yards, Simon Bradley explores the world of Britain's railways, the evolution of the trains, and the changing experiences of passengers and workers. The Victorians' private compartments, railway rugs and footwarmers have made way for air-conditioned carriages with airline-type seating, but the railways remain a giant and diverse anthology of structures from every period, and parts of the system are the oldest in the world.
Using fresh research, keen observation and a wealth of cultural references, Bradley weaves from this network a remarkable story of technological achievement, of architecture and engineering, of shifting social classes and gender relations, of safety and crime, of tourism and the changing world of work. The Railways shows us that to travel through Britain by train is to journey through time as well as space.

Time Difference
During the winter months, Britain is on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), which is 5 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time and 10 hours behind Sydney. Western standard time is five hours behind.
From late March until late October, the clocks go forward one hour to British Summer Time (BST).

Passport And Visas Requirements To Enter The UK
Please note: Following the recent referendum vote for the UK to leave the European Union (EU), there are currently no changes in the way people travel to Britain. The following guidelines still apply:
If you're planning an adventure to the UK, depending on your nationality and your reason for visiting, you may need to organise a visa.
If you're an American, Canadian or Australian tourist, you'll be able to travel visa-free throughout the UK, providing you have a valid passport and your reason for visiting meets the immigration rules (link is external).
Citizens from some South American and Caribbean countries as well as Japan are also able to travel visa-free around the UK.
European Union citizens, non-EU member states of the EEA (Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland), Switzerland, and members of the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCT) do not need a visa to enter the UK.
If you have any further visa questions visit the official UK government website.
Anyone that has any questions, please feel free the comment below and I will answer them for you.
You can dial 999 to reach either the police, fire and ambulance departments.
