The migrant monument is a symbol of the diverse and rich cultural makeup of Campbelltown, and is a true representation of todays multicultural Australian society.
Migrants have played a major role in the development of the Campbelltown area, with significant contributions to business, cultural and religious activity, education and urban planning.
My name is John. My name is Giovanni in fact. I'm right here at this migrant monument. At this Glynde corner, because at Glynde corner where a lot of people years ago used to meet. Then from here they used to gain work in farms, in gardens and so on.
My name is Reb Jordana. I'm the architect for the migrant monument here at Campbelltown. Basically the monument, the design we have a circular pathway, which is 20 metres diameter, which represents the world. The actual monument has four doors, four entrances, to represent the four corners of the world.
Today, the multicultural mix of the community continues to grow, with nationalities from South Africa to China and beyond.
We've got one friend here, a friend of the family, right Johnson. My eldest daughter Erica, my wife Sonia, Kerry sitting in the corner, and Clare who's not eating tonight because she's going dancing. We came from Johannseburg about two years ago. First to Brisbane, then when I got a job, we settled in Adelaide in January of last year.
This is my wife... This is my two years and eight months old daughter, Natalie. Say hallo. My name is Rali. I migrated here from China, my wife migrated from Malaysia. We came here, got married, and pretty much here we are. I'm working with an internet company called Asia Online and my job mainly involves the technical area.
I'm a medical social worker and I work at the Flinders Medical Centre.
In a community as diverse as Campbelltown, religion plays a major role, as reflected by the many religious denominations operating in the area.
I'm... I'm the secretary of the Parish of St Raphael, Nicholas and Irene Orthodox church in Athelstone. You might be wondering, what's a Chinese man doing as the secretary of the Greek church. Well, fortunately I'm married to a Greek and as a result I'm an orthodox and all my family are orthodox.
Each year the Italian Catholic Community in Campbelltown host the Montevergine Festival, one of the largest religious festivals in Australia. More than 5000 people take part in church services at the Church of the Annunciation at Hectorville and then march in procession to the St Francis of Assisi church at Newton for a giant mass.

The Lang Walker Macarthur Medical Research Centre to open in Campbelltown | 7NEWS
Macarthur Medical Research Centre: The Lang Walker Family today announced that they'll contribute up to $26 million in philanthropic gifts to the Western Sydney University which will deliver a hub for medical education and research at the Campbelltown Hospital.
Media Statement: Western Sydney University and the Lang Walker founded Walker Group are pleased to announce a strategic partnership that will deliver the highest quality new educational and medical research facilities for south-western Sydney, including a world-class medical research centre for the rapidly-growing Macarthur region. As part of a broader partnership, Walker Group will deliver Western Sydney University’s new state-of-the-art vertical campus in the Bankstown CBD, which is set to open in 2022 and accommodate up to 12,000 students. The partnership will establish a Lang Walker Professorial Chair in Built Environment to advance innovation and sustainability in the property, design and delivery spaces. The Lang Walker Family will contribute up to $26 million in philanthropic gifts to the University in order to deliver on the ambitious vision for the Macarthur Medical Research Centre – a dynamic hub for medical education and research that will transform Campbelltown Hospital into an internationally engaged research precinct and foster greater scientific, clinical and industry collaborations. “The Lang Walker Macarthur Medical Research Centre brings together the expertise and commitment of an unprecedented array of partners committed to the health of the south west, now and over the coming decades,” said Western Sydney University Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Barney Glover AO. The Lang Walker Macarthur Medical Research Centre’s other foundational partners are the South Western Sydney Local Health District, the Ingham Institute, and UNSW Sydney. The facility will drive research into some of the region’s most pressing health conditions such as diabetes, mental health, Indigenous health, paediatrics and cancer. It will translate research findings so they lead to targeted improvements in patient care, treatments and, very importantly, preventative health. “My family and I are proud to be able to expand our continued commitment to Medical Research across Sydney, through this partnership with Western Sydney University. Investing in Greater Western Sydney communities is a priority for the Walker Group and builds on the community programs we are already supporting through the newly formed A-League club Macarthur Bulls FC and the Charles Perkins Soccer Academy,” Lang Walker AO, Executive Chairman of Walker Group said. The new Lang Walker Macarthur Medical Research Centre, and the pending Bankstown CBD campus, come in addition to a Stage 2 development for the University in the Liverpool CBD. Only two years out from the opening of its Ngara Ngura CBD campus, the University is now engaged in advanced planning for its Stage 2 presence in Liverpool. This second facility will significantly upscale its already pronounced teaching and research presence in the CBD. More details will be revealed in the New Year. Welcoming the agreement with the Walker Group, and the Stage 2 Liverpool development, Professor Glover added: “These initiatives focus on the educational, health and wellbeing needs of south-western Sydney. Importantly, they do so, at scale, across an area we’ve designated the ‘Priority Triangle’; specifically, the region broadly encompassing the communities of Campbelltown, Bankstown and Liverpool. “South Western Sydney is the most rapidly growing region in Australia. By 2036, it will be home to more than 1.5 million people. One in three new NSW residents will live in there. This rapidly growing population will present unique and sometimes complex health challenges. We need to act now if we are to meet those challenges. “Western Sydney University is well placed to serve this fast-growing population. Working together with our alliance partners, the Macarthur Medical Research Centre is a major new opportunity for the region – a place to grow the health and medical workforce of the future, and a home for the world’s best and brightest researchers to bring together cutting-edge research, clinical expertise and innovation to improve the health and wellbeing of the local communities.” Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney, Stuart Ayres, said: “The NSW Government fully supports this partnership between Walker Group and Western Sydney University. It will deliver vitally important research, educational and community-embedded outcomes addressing the specific requirements of one the state’s fastest growing regions.”

Lochiel Park green village South Australia
We bought block 59 today even though we go back to the States in four weeks. It borders the Torrens River. Lochiel Park is one of the first totally green built developments in Australia. It will use fewer natural resources and have drain collections and filters for storm water to water the forests and flush toilets. We hope to have our new house completed by the end of 2008 and rent it until we retire here. It is in Campbelltown near Adelaide South Australia. The block we bought has a large gum tree over shadowing it which will be a good view from the balcony. As with all new developments of this type it will have fitness trails, walks, parks native grass meadows an irrigated grass oval and wetlands. Lochiel Park is an initiative of the Government of South Australia, incorporating leading edge ecological technologies (ESD) into everyday life.
We are building Charter House by Hickinbotham, Green House 01, designed by the Australian designer, Max Pritchard. See for the greenhouse we are building.

Police said the girl was walking along Sir Donald Bradman Dr about 7am (CST) when she was hit.

Last night, the driver of a high-powered Subaru also failed to stop when involved in another fatal crash in north Adelaide.
A police spokeswoman said the Subaru was one of two cars drag-racing when one hit another vehicle.

The deaths have taken SA's road toll for 2009 to 49, compared to 33 at the same time last year.
