ISTANBUL, TURKEY--The Gateway Between the East and West 2015
Istanbul is truly the gateway between the East and West. It is divided by the Bosphorus Bridge which divides Europe and Asia. Istanbul is divided by the Sea of Marmara. The walk from the Asian side to the European side is only five minutes across the Bosphorus Bridge. My 48 hours in Istanbul were absolutely incredible! Pics of the Spice Bizarre, Grande Bizarre, Sultan Ahmed Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and at the very end street shots of New Istanbul on the European side.

➡️About Besiktas
Beşiktaş is a district and municipality of Istanbul, Turkey, located on the European shore of the Bosphorus strait. It is bordered on the north by Sarıyer and Şişli, on the west by Kağıthane and Şişli, on the south by Beyoğlu, and on the east by the Bosphorus. Directly across the Bosphorus is the district of Üsküdar.
The district includes a number of important sites along the European shore of the Bosphorus, from Dolmabahçe Palace in the south to the Bebek area in the north. It is also home to many inland (and relatively expensive, upper-middle class) neighborhoods such as Levent and Etiler. Some of its other well-known neighborhoods include Yıldız, Kuruçeşme, Ortaköy, and Arnavutköy.
Beşiktaş' historic commercial centre is the Beşiktaş [tr] quarter and Çarşı (literally, marketplace),[3] which adjoins the small Abbasağa Park. Running in the north-south direction, Barbaros Boulevard is a major feeder road for the inner-city motorway O-1and the Bosphorus Bridge, terminating in the important public transport hub of Zincirlikuyu. Büyükdere Avenue also runs through the district.
Although it is a relatively small district of Istanbul, both in terms of population and area, Beşiktaş is one of the city's most important areas due to its business and shopping areas, historic sites, universities, scenic views of the Bosphorus strait, and feeder roads for the Bosphorus and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges passing through it. The district is also the leading financial center of Turkey.[4]
In a 2013 ranking of Turkish districts, Beşiktaş placed first overall due to its high quality of life, prosperity, and cultural level.[5] Beşiktaş is also the highest ranking Turkish district in terms of the Human Development Index, with an HDI of 0.864, while also ranking first in the individual indexes for income and education.[6][7] The municipality is taking part in the Cities4Europe campaign[8] and has qualified as a European 12 Star City.
In 2016 and 2017, there were two terror attacks in the district. One was outside a stadium and the other was at a nightclub

Fatih Mosque
Mosque in Western Districts
The Fatih was the first great imperial mosque built in İstanbul following the Conquest. Mehmet the Conqueror chose to locate it on the hilltop site of the ruined Church of the Apostles, burial place of Constantine and other Byzantine emperors. Mehmet decided to be buried here as well; his tomb is behind the mosque and is inevitably filled with worshippers.

The original külliye (mosque complex), finished in 1470, was enormous. Set in extensive grounds, it included 15 charitable establishments such as medreses (Islamic schools of higher studies), a hospice for travellers and a caravanserai. Many of these still stand; the most interesting is the multidomed tabhane (inn for travelling dervishes) to the southeast of the mosque. Its columns are said to have been originally used in the Church of the Apostles.
Unfortunately the mosque you see today is not the one Mehmet built. The original stood for nearly 300 years before toppling in an earthquake in 1766. The current baroque-style mosque was constructed between 1767 and 1771.
The front courtyard of the mosque is a favourite place for locals to congregate. On Wednesday the streets behind and to the north of the mosque host the Çarşamba Pazarı (Wednesday Market), selling food, clothing and household goods.

Located in the northwest corner of the country (just south of Istanbul), Bursa was the first capital of the Ottoman Empire and today thrives as one of the country’s most industrialized cities. Join David as he tours all the top things to see and do in Bursa, from the coolest historical sites to some of the best shopping. Most tours should kick off around Zafer Plaza and the Grand Bazaar, where visitors can explore one of the city’s most famous items of trade: silk. Located in the Koza Han section, you can explore two levels and over 40 shops of beautiful, authentic, 100% “ipek” (silk products)- the perfect gift or souvenir to bring back home. From here you can visit the stunning 14th century Ulu Cami, or Grand Mosque (a great example of early Ottoman architecture), the beautifully tiled Yesil Türbe (Green Tomb of Mehmed I) and Hisar- the citadel entrance and last remaining gate of the Old City Wall. A bit outside the city center, visitors can find Inkaya- a 600-year-old sycamore tree planted by the Ottomans… a great place to visit in the morning for some coffee/tea & breakfast! Most sites are within walking distance from the historic city center, so don’t miss a beat when you’re visiting this beautiful Turkish city!

Ephesus Turkey : A complete Tour Guide
Of all the ruins and archaeological attractions in Turkey, Ephesus is the most famous. Tourists from around the world come here to walk down the well-preserved Roman streets, gaze at the mighty monuments, and soak up the ancient soul of this ruined city. Many travelers use the picturesque village of Selçuk (right beside the ruins) as their base, but you can also easily visit from the nearby seaside town of Kuşadası or the city of İzmir. Wherever you base yourself, allow enough time to explore. You'll find plenty of things to do in Ephesus and so much history to absorb, and even a short tour of the highlights will take half a day

TAHTA MİNARE CAMİİ
Fetih camilerindendir. Balat’ta, Tahta Minare Mahallesi, Vodina Caddesi üzerindedir.
Semiz Ali Paşa, Sultan I. Süleyman saltanatı döneminde 1561-1565 yılları arasında sadrazamlık yapmıştır. 1553’te de İstanbul’a döndüğünde, üçüncü vezir oldu. Uzun boylu ve aşırı şişman olduğundan kendisini taşıyacak at zor bulunurmuş.

Avanos, Cappadocia, Turkey travel, Avanos Turkey pottery
Travel Videos (Subscribe Now) ????
Avanos, located on the Kızılırmak River (literally Red River), is a town famous for its beautiful pottery that has been produced there for millennia. The production process uses the clay extracted from Kızılırmak, with a characteristic reddish hue. However, Avanos is not only a ceramic workshop but also a charming town where it is possible to stroll along a riverside promenade. It is also an alternative accommodation base for exploring Cappadocia.
Restaurants
Surprisingly, it is relatively difficult to find a tasty meal in the restaurant in Avanos. Based on the observation of Turkish tourists we can conclude that the most popular eateries in town are McDonald's and Mado. McDonald's does not need further elaboration, but its popularity in Avanos is amazing - at lunchtime it is practically besieged. It is the only McDonald's restaurant in Cappadocia, and it is located on the northern bank of the river, on Atatürk Street No. 53.
On the opposite bank of the Kızılırmak River, in a large park, there is Mado café. This Turkish network began its career as an ice cream parlour, but over time its menu has been extended not only to other desserts but also to breakfasts and lunch dishes.
We have personally tested two restaurants serving Turkish cuisine in Avanos. The first of them was Urfa Sofrasi, boasting the preparation of typical dishes of the south-eastern Anatolia. Unfortunately, in our eyes, it fared very poorly as the portions were modest, the prices - unexpectedly high, and placing an order - very problematic because of the lack of dishes listed on the menu. The restaurant is located in the centre of Avanos, on Atatürk Street.
The second restaurant we tested - Restoran Zelve (38.719214, 34.847806) - fared much better. The spacious interior, an elegant design and a waiters bustling about made a slightly intimidating impression. Meanwhile, it turned out that it was worth a look. We welcomed plates of appetisers, especially cheese and hot bread, served while we waited for the main course. The star of the menu is so-called Cappadocia kebab, pared by the local chef. These are succulent cuts of beef roasted with vegetables in a clay pot.
Orientation
Avanos is divided into two parts - the northern and the southern ones - by Kızılırmak River, flowing through its centre. The areas located on the banks of the river are the very centre of Avanos, with hotels, guesthouses, offices, and ceramic workshops. The banks of Kızılırmak are also a great place for evening walks or a photo session with ducks. An interesting idea for tourists is the possibility to cruise on the river in a gondola in the Venetian style.
The route D300 from Nevşehir to Kayseri is the southern bypass of Avanos, and the road to Göreme through Çavuşin leads to the south from Avanos.
Nearby Avanos
In the vicinity of Avanos, it is worth to visit Sarıhan caravanserai, built during the Seljuk period. It stands 7 km to the east of Avanos centre (38.711799, 34.909582) and it is difficult to miss while travelling along the D300 road to Kayseri. In the evenings, whirling dervish ceremonies are organised there, for the entertainment of tourists, but the building can also be visited during the daytime. Admission is payable and costs 3 TL.
Aficionados of prehistory can search for two prehistoric mounds in the vicinity of Avanos. Avanos Tumulus is located 7 km west of the city (38.717899, 34.768214) and Zank Tumulus - 4 km to the north-west of Sarilar village.
In the district of Avanos there are also two places extremely popular among the tourists - Özkonak underground city (38.8068, 34.8414) and Çavuşin village (38.6735, 34.8395). In Çavuşin, there are ancient rock churches. Less well known but also very attractive sight of the district is Belha Monastery (38.790599, 34.823799).
