Córdoba is a city in the geographic center of Argentina, in the foothills of the Sierras Chicas on the Suquía River, about 700 km) northwest of the Buenos Aires. It is the capital of Córdoba Province and the second most populous city in Argentina after Buenos Aires, with about 1,330,023 inhabitants according to the 2010 census. It was founded on 6 July 1573 by Jerónimo Luis de Cabrera, who named it after Córdoba, Spain. It was one of the first Spanish colonial capitals of the region that is now Argentina (the oldest city is Santiago del Estero, founded in 1553). The National University of Córdoba is the oldest university of the country and the seventh to be inaugurated in Spanish America. It was founded in 1613 by the Jesuit Order. Because of this, Córdoba earned the nickname La Docta (the learned).
Córdoba has many historical monuments preserved from Spanish colonial rule, especially buildings of the Roman Catholic Church. The most recognizable is perhaps the Jesuit Block (Spanish: Manzana Jesuítica), which consists of a group of buildings dating from the 17th century, including the Colegio Nacional de Monserrat and the colonial university campus. The campus belongs today to the historical museum of the National University of Córdoba, which has been the second-largest university in the country since the early 20th century (after the University of Buenos Aires), in terms of the number of students, faculty, and academic programs. Córdoba is also known for its historical movements, such as Cordobazo and La Reforma del '18 (known as University Revolution in English).

Sightseeing in Cordoba / Argentina Travel Vlog #92 / The Way We Saw It
Our second day in Cordoba was not so sunny, but our favorite Café in Cordoba made sure that we had sun shine.
We also joined another walking tour in the city after a few museum visits and we visited the Nueva Cordoba and Güemes districts with their distinctive characters. We even witnessed a major demonstration of the local people against the federal government.
We also tasted a specialty which is not really local but enjoys a huge fan community in Cordoba.
Follow us on another day of touring of our favorite city in Argentina.

A camera floating across a city. Welcome to the jungle! This is hot weather zone in Argentina (South America). A New Walking Tour In POSADAS, Misiones by Wanna Walk.
WALKING IN ARGENTINA — Misiones, Posadas, Video Walk
We are in Northeast Argentina, where summers here are wet and very hot with abundant rainfall very humid, while winters feature mild to warm weather. The region has high temperatures throughout the year. The Province of Misiones is surrounded by Paraguay to the northwest, Brazil to the north, east and south, and Corrientes Province of Argentina to the southwest and Posadas city it's capital.

This was an early area of Roman Catholic missionary activity by the Society of Jesus in what was then called the Province of Paraguay, beginning in the early 17th century. In 1984 the ruins of four mission sites in Argentina were designated World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
Misiones is largely covered by subtropical forest, with caiman, toucans and monkeys. Fast decomposition of organic matter gives the area a red soil with only a thin fertile layer that can easily be washed away. Misiones, a rugged province in northeastern Argentina, is home to one of the world's largest waterfalls.

Posadas is a city in northeast Argentina, beside the River Paraná, which marks the border with Paraguay. Riverside Avenida Costanera is a shady roadside boulevard with views of the city of Encarnación on the opposite bank. When it reaches Fleming Street, it’s lined with bars and restaurants. San Roque González de Santa Cruz Bridge joins the 2 cities. The Bridge Market at its base sells local food and crafts.
Misiones is an Argentine province. It belongs to the Mesopotamia which is a humid and verdant area of north east Argentina, The landscape and its characteristics are dominated by two rivers, the Paraná River and the Uruguay River. The region is part of the Brazilian central plateau. The whole region has high rainfall, particularly in August and September, up to 2200 mm annually.

Indigenous peoples of various cultures lived in the area of the future province for thousands of years. At the time of European encounter, it was occupied by the Kaingang and Xokleng, later followed by the Guarani. The first European to visit the region, Sebastian Cabot and Álvar Nuñez Cabeza de Vaca reached the Iguazú Falls.

The province has a humid subtropical climate characterized by a lack of a dry season and abundant rainfall throughout the year. The vegetation is the so-called 'Selva Misionera'. The original biome is protected in Iguazú National Park, part of the Alto Paraná Atlantic forests, in turn part of the Atlantic Forest biome. There are about 1,2 million people living in Misiones.
Steer clear of Northern Argentina in the summer, when scorching heat and humid air makes sightseeing unpleasant at best so high temperatures year-round and plentiful rainfall, with no dry season at all in the inland subtropical regions. I recommend you to visit ‘Posadas Misiones’ during the Argentine winter which occurs during North American summer.
A part of the population is descendant of indigenous peoples (especially Guaranis) and also Spanish who reached during the colonization and mixed with natives. Another part of the residents are descendants of European immigrants. Unlike many regions of Argentina, where the immigrants came through Buenos Aires, most of the immigrants who settled in Misiones came through Southern Brazil.

Cordoba Argentina / Argentina Travel Vlog #91 / The Way We Saw It
Our next stop in Argentina is the great city of Cordoba, in the Province of the same name. To start with, we did a free walking tour of the city to discover the highlights, and Cordoba has loads of highlights.
Then, after a coffee and some more walking, we decided to go to the night market in Güemes district and enjoy some excellent food in the area.
To end the day, some Tango dancing on one of the main squares in the city. A dramatic thunderstorm hit us then...

Córdoba Travel Guide
Travel video about destination Córdoba in Spain.
Cordoba was once the most important metropolis of the Caliphate and today is a city of harmony and contrast. It is a city in which the history of the Caliphs, Romans, Jews and Christians is still very much alive and was the centre of the Arab realm of Al-Andalus that reached its peak in around 1000 A.D.The Ponte Romana extends across the Gudalquivir and leads to the old town. With its sixteen arches the Roman bridge that spans across the river is one of the city’s main landmarks. The city’s most important building is the Mezquita Catedral in the centre of the old town. It is undoubtedly the most splendid mosque of Moorish Islamic origin on the Iberian Peninsula. Construction of the main mosque began in 785 A.D. during the rule of Abd-Ar-Rahman The First. The world’s third largest mosque was built on the site of a West Gothic Christian church that was built on the remains of a Roman temple. The Plaza Santa Marina dates back to the 17th century and was once used as a bull-fighting arena and also as a theatrical stage. Today it is frequently used as a marketplace. The striking monument of the famous Spanish toreador, Manolete, who was killed during a bullfight inside the arena, occupies a large section of the square. Mighty walls surround the Medina. Some of its old gates have survived such as the Puerta De Almodovar that leads into the Jewish quarter. Once known as a wealthy city, Cordoba was considered to be a worthy prize and was thus well protected and fortified. A combination of the Arabic, Jewish and Christian worlds, Cordoba is most deservedly the Pearl of Andalusia!
