trip to DUNEDIN, NEW ZEALAND PART I | Lovely Project |
Haluu fwends, it's me! Your love....ly!
Last December, we went for a trip down in south for 4 days. It was such an exciting trip (and very tiring). This is our Day 1 (Part I). We went straight on to visiting places the moment we got there so you can see how exhausted we were but we still managed to have long walks and climbed the Baldwin Street! Phew! Just thinking about it again makes me tired.
Along the way from Christchurch to Dunedin, we stopped by the Moeraki Boulders Beach (the one with rounded rocks). Then, we passed by the Dunedin Railway Station so we decided to take a look. The building and the front garden is very beautiful and very touristy, too hahaha. Next, we accepted the challenge to climb the Baldwin Street (the steepest street in the world until 2019). Lastly, we visited their Botanical Garden which was my favourite. I just love having walks while being surrounded with flowers and huge trees with the people I love!

City Description:
Dunedin is a city in New Zealand, at the head of Otago Harbour on the South Island’s southeast coast. It's known for its Scottish and Maori heritage, Victorian and Edwardian architecture, and a large student population. Hiking and cycling trails crisscross the dramatic landscape of the adjoining Otago Peninsula, home to colonies of albatross, sea lions and rare yellow-eyed penguins. The Otago Museum explores the natural sciences and Dunedin's Maori heritage. The Toitū Otago Settlers Museum traces local history. The city’s main thoroughfare, George Street, runs north from central Octagon plaza, passing shopping precincts and the Gothic-style Knox Church. The ornate Edwardian train station has floor mosaics and stained-glass windows. On the peninsula, Victorian Larnach Castle has 35 acres of gardens with panoramic views. Sandy St. Clair and St. Kilda are Pacific beaches known for surfing. St. Clair also has a cafe-lined esplanade and a heated saltwater swimming pool.
Weather and Events:
Many travelers visit in summer (Dec–Feb), when the weather's warm with regular rainfall. The Whare Flat Folk Festival (Jan) is an intimate music festival staged just outside the city. The Dunedin Chocolate Carnival (Jul) includes tours, tastings and other themed events in the center. Puaka Matariki (Jul) is a traditional Maori festival welcoming the New Year. The touring New Zealand International Film Festival includes screenings in Dunedin (Aug).

INDIAN GIRL IN NEW ZEALAND || DUNEDIN CITY TOUR || LARNACH CASTLE || VLOG
Known as the Edinburgh of New Zealand, Dunedin is the country's city of the south, wearing its Scottish heritage with pride. Surrounded by dramatic hills and at the foot of a long, picturesque harbor, Dunedin is one of the best-preserved Victorian and Edwardian cities in the Southern Hemisphere. In fact the very name Dunedin is derived from the Scottish Gaelic name for Edinburgh – Dùn Èideann – and the city even has its own tartan.

Trip of a Lifetime - Taieri Gorge Railway (HD)
New Zealand is centered in the Pacific Ocean and is 2 islands separated by a very large river called the Cook Strait. These islands are known as the North Island and the South Island. In the South Island we go look at New Zealand’s 4th biggest city, Dunedin. This city is famous for its city heritage. Today we look at one of the main tourist attractions in the city. Today we ride behind Dunedin Railway’s Taieri Gorge Railway excursion train which runs from Dunedin through the Taieri Gorge to Pukerangi centered near Central Otago. The line travels through some spectacular scenery and passes through many narrow tunnels, climbs steep grades and crosses over high constructed viaducts. Dunedin Railways own and operate 6 DJ class diesel locomotives built in Japan from the late 1960’s and operate a variety of passenger carriages dating from the old wooden cars in the 1920’s, to the more modern and recently refurbished carriages built as far back as the 1930’s. These carriages used to be used on daily express trains. This is a basic guideline of the trip including highlights of the excursion, on board features and a look at the impressive Dunedin Railway Station built in 1906. This railway is one of the world’s great train trips. Take a look at Dunedin Railway’s website at for more information on their scenic train trips and bookings. Hope you enjoy this video and make sure when you’re next in Dunedin you get a chance to go for a ride on the Taieri Gorge Railway!
