A walking tour of the largest outdoor market in Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan Province, China. Lots of tasty cooked foods and local delicacies along with many other things one would find at a local market.
Tour around Chinese City of Kunming - shopping district
I've shown my apartment before, but I haven't really had time to show you around the area I live in, here in Kunming. Here is a quick walk around my area, highlighting the shopping and party districts of Dongfeng square and Kundu in Kunming city, near my apartment.
It might not be a very interesting video, but it is a small glimpse of the Real China you may experience if you decide to live here.

Like it says, this is actually still January 2nd, the day after we arrived China. Just exploring downtown Kunming with a very bitchy Leeda cuz she wore the worst shoes to walk 20,000 steps in after 24 hours of flying.
Starting to upload the videos again since we don't have to use VPN in Japan unlike in China!! (having to go through a VPN slows internet/everything)

In this guide, we take a look at some of the best things to do in a seriously underrated city. We had 2 amazing days there on the way to other parts of the country, so this itinerary is easily achievable in 24 hours or 48 hours.

0:15 - The Journey from Xingping to Kunming
We travelled by bus and train for pretty much a whole day. The views from the window were pretty stunning all the way.
0:41 - Yuantong Temple
The most famous Buddhist temple in Kunming.
0:58 - Green Lake Park
Also known as Cuihu Park, in the center of the city. A good place for locals' leisure activities such as street food, dancing, renting electric boats, yoga and art.
2:07 - Sleeper Train from Lijiang to Kunming
An 8 hour overnight train. It's comfortable enough.
2:40 - The Western Hills Park
In the western suburbs of Kunming lies Western Hills. They are also called 'Sleeping Buddha Hills'. From a distance, they have the appearance of a giant sleeping Buddha. From the top (which you can reach by cable car or hiking), you can get amazing views of Dianchi Lake.
3:18 - Lingxu Pavillion
The best view you can get of Kunming city and the Dianchi Lake.
3:40 - The Dragon Gate
There is a quote in China that says: If you do not visit Western Hills, you haven't visited Kunming; if you do not come to Dragon Gate, you haven't been to Western Hills. Dragon Gate is a stone carved Buddhist edifice. The stone paths, stone rooms, stone grottos, and stone Buddhist figures are all hand carved and makes for an amazing trek around the cliffside.

In this video I take a stroll through Shilin. The Shilin Stone Forest is a large cluster of limestone formations that is located roughly 90 km from Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province. The forest was formed from the gradual erosion of limestone which resembles stalagmites. The area is designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.

So happy to be here in Southern China, one of the world's top destinations for eaters of Spicy Food!
Flying from Chiang Mai directly to Kunming (Lucky Air, a Chinese airline), the flight time was a little over 2 hours.
You can either take a bus, or hire a taxi, and the trip from the Kunming airport is going to be anywhere from 45-90 minutes depending on the time of day. The airport is about 30km outside of town, and the standard bus ticket costs 13 RMB (US$2).
I am in China for a 2-week long trip, and I will try and make 1 video each day I'm here. Be sure to check out all the food, nature, and interesting people that I meet on the way.
