walking in Lima (Peru)
Lima is the capital and the largest city of Peru. It is located in the valleys of the Chillón, Rímac and Lurín rivers, in the central coastal part of the country, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Together with the seaport of Callao. It forms a contiguous urban area known as the Lima Metropolitan Area. With a population of more than 10 million, Lima is the most populous metropolitan area of Peru and the third-largest city in the Americas (as defined by city proper), behind São Paulo and Mexico City.

[4K] KENNEDY PARK - CAT PARK - LIMA, PERU WALKING TOUR
From peruforless.com:
Parque Kennedy occupies an area of approximately 240,000 square feet. As most main squares of Lima, Parque Kennedy has a Roman Catholic temple – the Virgen Milagrosa Church – built in 1939, and also hosts the Municipal Palace, headquarters of Miraflores’ local administration. The Chabuca Granda Amphitheater and a number of smaller mini-squares within are where you can find everything from handcrafts and artisans to street food vendors.
Colorful flower beds frame the park and tall trees add to the park’s beauty. Curiously, Parque Kennedy has become a natural shelter for dozens of cats and kittens, which harmlessly wander throughout the green areas, sharing the space with visitors who very often decide to adopt one. In recent years the park has also become the main station for Mirabus, a city sightseeing service that connects several tourist spots throughout Lima – departing from and arriving at Parque Kennedy.

Wikipedia:
The city of Lima, the capital of Peru, was founded by Francisco Pizarro on 18 January 1535 and given the name City of the Kings. Nevertheless, with time its original name persisted, which may come from one of two sources: Either the Aymara language lima-limaq (meaning yellow flower), or the Spanish pronunciation of the Quechuan word rimaq (meaning talker, and actually written and pronounced limaq in the nearby Quechua I languages). It is worth noting that the same Quechuan word is also the source of the name given to the river that feeds the city, the Rímac River (pronounced as in the politically dominant Quechua II languages, with an r instead of an l). Early maps of Peru show the two names displayed jointly.
In 1988, UNESCO declared the historic center of Lima a World Heritage Site for its originality and high concentration of historic monuments constructed in the time of Spanish presence.

TRIP TO LIMA PERU - MIRAFLORES AND HISTORIC CENTER TOUR
Welcome to Lima Peru! We start the tour in the coastal city of Miraflores and travel to the Historic Center in Lima. On our way to the city, we pass by Huaca Pucllana, an archaeological site in Miraflores.
Our Peru Tour:
The first stop in Lima is the Central Bank Museum, a converted bank building that houses an astonishing pre-Columbian exhibition, an amazing art gallery, the impressive Hugo Cohen Gold collection and a Folk Art exhibition.
We visit Colonial Lima, including a visit to the Main Square, located in the heart of downtown to view the Government Palace, the Town Hall, the Bishops Palace with its beautiful balconies and the Cathedral of Lima, where we visit inside. Its outstanding features are the choirstalls, the Churrigueresque Chapel of the Immaculate, the main altar and a Christ made of carved ivory. On the right is the crypt with remains of conqueror Francisco Pizarro.
We pass by the church and convent of San Francisco, considered to be the most important religious monument of Lima, built in 1542 in Baroque style and consecrated in 1673.
Lima has several Colonial squares, churches and mansions, then we continue to the Modern Districts of San Isidro and Miraflores, for a glimpse of life in this huge city, as well as its beautiful parks, modern buildings and great ocean views.
We end the tour at a traditional Peruvian dance performance where we see the Marinera dance - the National dance of Peru,. We also see the Danza de las Tijeras- the scissor dance, an indigenous dance native to the region of Ayacucho. Lastly, we see the Afro-Peruvian Dance called El Alcatraz.
