Porto Portugal in 4K Walking Tour
This is a virtual tour from around Porto Portugal. This is one of the most amazing cities I have ever seen in Europe. I would have to say after reflecting on my visit to Portugal, Porto was the most memorable and amazing place I went and that says a lot. Sure there are other places around Lisbon like, Sintra and the south of Portugal but Porto, being located on the river has so much charm. In this video we explore the Ribiera, some markets, wine taste, explore downtown Porto, explore the bridge crossing for the train and so much more!
Island Hopper TV is a travel resource for adventure seekers looking to discover many destinations across the planet. Having been encouraged to explore the world outside of the United States I have traveled many places solo and through Island Hopper TV I share the experience.

A Camera Floating Among The Crowd. Walking Around PORTUGAL by Wanna Walk — Welcome to PORTO, where geography is hard on the feet but very pleasant to the eye! The city is extremely hilly, with many buildings built into a cliff face that overlooks the river. Stairs cut into the stone run up and down the cliff face and offer a laborious but rewarding walking tour.

Porto has always been a mercantile city, and this is evident in the style of the buildings lining the Avenida dos Aliados, Residents of Porto are known as Tripeiros (tripe eaters) due to the fact that the city went without meat in order to provision the capital in 1415 so they had to subsist on tripe stew and this still a speciality of the city.

[4K] PORTO WALKING TOUR (2019) PORTUGAL - Cais da Ribeira
Welcome to Porto Portugal - join us on this Porto 4K walking tour along the banks of the Rio Duoro. We start on a small walkway, lined with some of the romantic restaurants Porto is famous for, looking out across the glistening waters of the Rio Douro towards Vila Nova de Gaia on the opposite bank.
We cross the famous Praça da Ribeira porto (or Ribiera Square) and join the Cais Da Ribiera with it's colourful, lively street performers and some of the best Porto restaurants with a view that is known world wide.
The Bairro da Ribiera, with it's colourful tiled houses leads us towards the main feature - Ponte de D. Luís (Ponte Luis I bridge) - the double deck metal bridge that connects Porto with Vila Nova de Gaia across the Rio Duoro. And if you think it looks like it's neighbouring bridge, the Dona Maria Pia, then you won't be surprised to know that the Dona Maria was designed by non other than Gustave Eiffel (he of the Eiffel Tower, Paris fame.) The Ponte Luis I was designed by his colleague.
This slow TV city walk takes you along Cais da Ribeira - a Unesco World Heritage site and perhaps the top of the list of one of the top 10 things to do in Porto, and answers the question of what to see if you visit.

WALKING TOUR - Porto Portugal (2019)
Porto has a stunning views. Just wandering inside the city centre nearly 5 hours.
Porto – Portugal – City tour
Portugal is in the west of the Iberian Peninsula. Porto is in the north of Portugal, on the estuary of the river Douro. Earlier Porto was the industrial city of Portugal. In Lisbon Portugal was ruled, in Coimbra was studied and in Porto was worked.
In recent years, Porto has turned into a wonderful tourist destination. With its picturesque old town, the promenade along the banks of the Douro under the impressive Ponte Luís I, the long promenade along the Douro estuary and the endless beach promenade along the Atlantic coast, Porto is now worth to be visited more than only one day.
The culinary diversity, the history of port wine, many historic buildings and the famous Azulejos framed by the hospitality of the Portuguese, complete the experience.

[4K] PORTO CITY, PORTUGAL (2019) Gaia walking tour
We're back in Porto Portugal - join us on this Porto City 4K walking tour through Vila Nove de Gaia, along the banks of the Rio Duoro. Keeping us company across the water is Cais da Ribiera and the square known as Praça da Ribeira, and ahead us beckons the Ponte de D. Luís (Ponte Luis I bridge) - the double deck metal bridge that connects Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia across the Rio Duoro.
We start in the backstreets near some of the famous Port wine cellars (Sandeman, Croft, Ramos Pinto and Quinta dos Corvos to name a few.) We head onto Cais de Gaia - cable cars (the Teleférico de Gaia) pass over our heads as they make their way to the station just beneath Jardim do Morro.
Along the banks, most of the large Port wine suppliers offer tastings and tours of their offices, and there's a great selection of restaurants and cafes to stop at and enjoy the view.
We finish this walk on the lower, pedestrian section of the Ponte Luis I bridge, looking west along the winding Rio Douro.
This Porto City 4K, slow TV walk takes you along the waterfront of Vila Nova de Gaia, home to many famous Port wine cellars. Definitely one of the top 10 things to do in Porto, especially if you're stuck on what to see if you visit.

10 Things to do in Porto, Portugal Travel Guide Video Transcript: (OPORTO)
Lisbon is beautiful, but Porto is magical. We arrived in Porto with our taxi driver’s words still ringing in our ears, and we’re happy to say, the city did not disappoint!
Our time in Porto was spent sipping on Port wine, soaking in the views across the Douro River, wandering through the hilly streets, and marvelling at buildings covered in blue tiles.
In this travel guide, we’re going to share a little bit of Porto’s magic with you, and also show you some of the things you too can see, eat, and drink when you visit Porto!
Known as the Chapel of Souls, this church is covered in tiles that represent moments in the life of Saint Francis of Assisi and Saint Catherine.
This bookstore is a feast for the eyes. The bookstore was even frequented by JK Rowling when she taught English in Porto, and it’s reported to have been an inspiration in her Harry Potter series.
We continued our walk downhill until we reached the São Bento Train Station.
Porto Cathedral is one of the oldest landmarks in the city with cloisters where the walls are covered in blue tiles.
We reached the neighbourhood of Ribeira, which sits right on the shores of the Douro River. This neighbourhood is lined with many sidewalk cafes, bars, and restaurants, so it’s a nice place to rest your legs and do a bit of people watching. Feeling hungry we wandered down some of the back streets until we found a small restaurant serving up local specialities.
We made time for one more attraction: the Church of Saint Francis.
The Bridge we had all been waiting for was Dom Luis the first Bridge, which spans the Douro River. The lower deck carries regular traffic with narrow walkways for those on foot, and the upper deck is reserved for pedestrians and the metro lines.
For the best views of Porto, you need to walk the upper deck!
There was only one thing on our minds: visit one of the many wineries that line this side of the river! We ended up walking into Croft for a wine tasting without need for an appointment, and this turned out to be one of our favourite activities in Porto!
Filled to the brim with port wine, cheese and chocolate, we enjoyed a light stroll along the Douro River, watching the boats bob in the water.
That’s a wrap for our visit to Porto! We hope you guys enjoyed following along and that you got a few ideas for your own trip. If you have any other suggestions of fun things to do in and around Porto, feel free to share those with travellers in the comments below.
This is part of our Travel in Portugal video series showcasing Portuguese food, Portuguese culture and Portuguese cuisine.

Insider's Guide to Porto, Portugal
Check out how to do Porto like a local! Eat traditional pastries, drink world famous wine and walk across the historic Dom Luis I bridge.
Definitely add this city to your travel list and throw in a stop to Douro Valley if you can!
We'd recommend spending 3-4 days here. Most activities in the city are within walking distance of the Sé neighborhood.

Guimaraes and Braga | A Day Trip From Porto, Portugal
We had a great day exploring Guimaraes and Braga during our stay in Porto, Portugal. We tried to fit as much as we could into our day. Doing both Guimaraes and Braga in the same day is doable but it was verging on a bit too much. Keep that in mind if you are planning on doing both by public transport. If you have a car and drive, it would definitely be doable.
See the blog for our article on our day trip to Guimaraes and Braga from Porto, it has all the details of how we got from a to b, what we saw and food recommendations.
