Quebec City on a Budget (Walking Tour of Old Quebec) (178)
Quebec City was first settled by Jacques-Cartier in 1535. That's 484 years worth of history. Everywhere you look in Old Quebec there is a piece of history. Boasting French Urban Colonial Architecture and prominent military installations, Old Quebec is easy to get around on foot.
We started our tour at the Martello Towers, then crossed the street to the Plains of Abraham. At this site in 1759, the British took control of Quebec City and allowed them to take over the rest of Canada the following year.
From there we walked to the Citadelle which is an active and historic military installation. We then took theGovernor's Walkway boardwalk that hugs Quebec's fortification walls over to the Chateau Frontenac.
The Chateau Frontenac was one of the first grand railway hotels. It has hosted many prominent public figures and has themed rooms to honor such figures as Pierre Elliott & Justin Trudeau, Churchill, and Roosevelt.
We ended the tour meandering within Old Quebec's fortification walls and discovered some festivals, buskers and many, many restaurants.
This walking tour is a low cost, family friendly way to see this beautiful city and many historical sites. There are many signs in both languages that the discuss the important buildings and sites, which also makes it very interactive.
We are looking forwards to visiting it again in the near future.

Walking tour in Quebec City
This video is about visiting Québec City
Walking Tour of Quebec City Downtown
Enjoy a stroll through the historic streets of Quebec City!
Quebec City, officially Québec, is the capital city of the Canadian province of Quebec. The city had a population estimate of 531,902 in July 2016, and the metropolitan area had a population of 800,296 in July 2016, making it the second largest city in Quebec, after Montreal, and the seventh-largest metropolitan area in Canada. It is situated 258 kilometres (160 mi) north-east of Montreal.
The narrowing of the Saint Lawrence River proximate to the city's promontory, Cap-Diamant (Cape Diamond), and Lévis, on the opposite bank, provided the name given to the city, Kébec, an Algonquin word meaning where the river narrows. Founded in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain, Quebec City is one of the oldest cities in North America. The ramparts surrounding Old Quebec (Vieux-Québec) are the only fortified city walls remaining in the Americas north of Mexico, and were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985 as the 'Historic District of Old Québec'.
The city's landmarks include the Château Frontenac, a hotel which dominates the skyline, and the Citadelle of Quebec, an intact fortress that forms the centrepiece of the ramparts surrounding the old city and includes a secondary royal residence. The National Assembly of Quebec (provincial legislature), the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (National Museum of Fine Arts of Quebec), and the Musée de la civilisation (Museum of Civilization) are found within or near Vieux-Québec.

???????? CANADA: OLD QUEBEC CITY WALKING TOUR ✈️ ???????? | TRAVEL VLOG #0081
The Quebec old city walking tour made us feel like we had traveled to a small French village! The old town is small, quaint, and cozy, with shops and restaurants that make for a wonderful leisurely afternoon in Quebec City, Canada.
I won this trip through an app called Trover, in partnership with Expedia. Trover is an app that is totally driven by users uploading and describing points of interest during their travels, or even in their own home towns. The app also sponsors frequent photo contests, and all you have to do to enter is upload your photos! I am NOT a professional photographer, and the photo I won with was taken on my old iPhone 6. I won a $1500 travel voucher from Expedia, just for sharing that photo, so download Trover now and start entering!

17th Century Quebec City Walking Tour
Visit our site:
A Walking Tour is great for those who either have only a few hours in Quebec City or are staying a few days. Get an understanding of the history and the everyday life of the World Heritage Site that is Old Quebec City.

Montréal is the largest city in Canada's Québec province. It’s set on an island in the Saint Lawrence River and named after Mt. Royal, the triple-peaked hill at its heart. Its boroughs, many of which were once independent cities, include neighbourhoods ranging from cobblestoned, French colonial Vieux-Montréal – with the Gothic Revival Notre-Dame Basilica at its centre – to bohemian Plateau.
A WALK AROUND QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC
A soupçon of medieval France in the provincial capital of Quebec. Midway through the day we took the 800 bus to Montmorency Falls (Chute Montmorency) (17 July 2015)
