In 4K City Walks: Tallinn Estonia's Medieval Old Town - Virtual Walk Walking Treadmill Video you will walk through the amazingly preserved Medieval heart of Tallinn Estonia. Amazingly preserved streets and alleyways wander in a senseless morass of a labyrinth but that just make it more enjoyable. The old city walls still surround most of the old town. 40 ft high, they tower above you as you walk. The area bleeds history. From the market square and town hall to the Kiek in de Kok museum and the various cathedrals, including the onion domed Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the city welcomes you with its enchanting embrace. How's that for poetry. I walked in the morning on this one and I had to try twice since I accidentally lost the footage from the first try. I also used my Sony with a wide angle lens to capture the tall buildings in the narrow streets. I hope you enjoy this walk. Tallinn, Estonia is a great city with lots to offer. This video is one of five that will be released over the next few weeks.
Thanks.

Located in the northern part of the country, on the shore of the Gulf of Finland of the Baltic Sea, it has a population of 434,562. Administratively a part of Harju maakond (county), Tallinn is a major financial, industrial, cultural, educational and research centre of Estonia. Tallinn is located 80 kilometres (50 mi) south of Helsinki, Finland, 320 kilometres (200 mi) west of Saint Petersburg, Russia, and 380 kilometres (240 mi) east of Stockholm, Sweden. It has close historical ties with these three cities. From the 13th century until the first half of the 20th century Tallinn was known in most of the world by its historical German name Reval.
Tallinn, first mentioned in 1219, received city rights in 1248, but the earliest human settlements date back 5,000 years. The first recorded claim over the land was laid by Denmark in 1219, after a successful raid of Lyndanisse led by king Valdemar II, followed by a period of alternating Scandinavian and Teutonic rulers. Due to its strategic location, the city became a major trade hub, especially from the 14th to the 16th century, when it grew in importance as part of the Hanseatic League. Walking in TALLINN / Estonia during a snowstorm - 4K 60fps (UHD)
Snow and wind .. and bad audio. It may be better to play this video with your own music. No vlog, no intrusive faces, just enjoying walking in windy winter weather.
We start the walk in Tallin, the capital of Estonia, by the Metskist statue - a cute little deer. Then we pass the St Olafs church, visit the Town Hall and square with its Christmas market. From there we head up the Toompea Hill to the Alexander Nevksy Cathedral, the Parliament of Estonia, Tall Hermann and enjoy a view over this cute city.

The Historic Centre (Old Town) of Tallinn is an exceptionally complete and well-preserved medieval northern European trading city on the coast of the Baltic Sea. The city developed as a significant centre of the Hanseatic League during the major period of activity of this great trading organization in the 13th-16th centuries.
The combination of the upper town on the high limestone hill and the lower town at its foot with many church spires forms an expressive skyline that is visible from a great distance both from land and sea.
The upper town (Toompea) with the castle and the cathedral has always been the administrative centre of the country, whereas the lower town preserves to a remarkable extent the medieval urban fabric of narrow winding streets, many of which retain their medieval names, and fine public and burgher buildings, including town wall, Town Hall, pharmacy, churches, monasteries, merchants' and craftsmen' guilds, and the domestic architecture of the merchants' houses, which have survived to a remarkable degree. The distribution of building plots survives virtually intact from the 13th-14th centuries.
The Outstanding Universal Value of the Historic Centre (Old Town) of Tallinn is demonstrated in its existence as an outstanding, exceptionally complete and well preserved example of a medieval northern European trading city that retains the salient features of this unique form of economic and social community to a remarkable degree.
Criterion (ii): The Historic Centre of Tallinn, among the most remote and powerful outposts of the colonizing activities of the Hanseatic League in the north-eastern part of Europe in the 13th-16th centuries, provided a crucible within which an international secular-ecclesiastical culture resulting from the interchange of Cistercians, Dominicans, the Teutonic Order and the traditions of the Hanseatic League, formed and was itself exported throughout northern Europe.
Criterion (iv): The town plan and the buildings within it constitute a remarkable reflection of the coexistence of the seat of feudal overlords and a Hanseatic trading centre within the shelter of a common system of walls and fortifications.

4K City Walks: Tallinn Estonia's Kodriorg Neighborhood - Virtual Walk Walking Treadmill Video takes you from Kodriorg Park and through the richest neighborhood in Estonia. It’s a beautiful area with a mix of well maintained traditional wood homes and ultra modern residences whose design melds very well with the traditional architecture. From there we take you to part of the modern and financially successful downtown area, through the Politseiaia Park or Police Garden Park, the most used park in Estonia. We see lots of high rises and hotels and shops as well as a cat cafe and then back to our starting point.
Kadriorg (Estonian for Catherine's Valley) is a subdistrict in the district of Kesklinn (Midtown), Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. It has a population of 4,561 (As of 1 January 2015). The subdistrict name derives from the Catherinethal, a Baroque palace of Catherine I of Russia. It is one of the wealthiest regions in Estonia.
Kadriorg is known for the Kadriorg palace and the surrounding park, commissioned by the Russian Czar Peter the Great. Nowadays the park is a location of several museums including the Kadriorg art Museum (in Kadriorg palace), KUMU, Mikkel, Peter the Great and Eduard Vilde museums. Nearby is the Russalka Memorial which commemorates the loss of a Russian warship in 1893.
The official Presidential Palace of the President of Estonia is situated next to Kadriorg Palace in the park.

We took the Tallink Ferry from Helsinki to Ballin at 10:00 am and arrived by 12:00pm
The ferry was a huge 9 floor cruise ship and the cost for the one day return trip tickets was 65 euros.
We departed by 8:30pm (20:30)
The ferry ride was very smooth and most people sat inside and drank beer or wine which was purchased from the onboard restaurant.
I suggest to get there early and find a seat as soon as possible, because many people had no seats and sat on the floor (some slept).
There is free wifi on board.
The walk from the harbor where the boat docked to the Old town was about 15 minutes and very easy, just follow the signs.
Old Town Ballin is not very large and is composed of the upper and lower parts.
You could easily spend 3 hours walking the charming streets exploring the medieval history.
try to make the walking tour (they have several free ones by searching Google).
Estonia uses the Euro as currency and although things are expensive, they are not as expensive as Finland.
We ate at the Pegasus Restaurant, I suggest the beer bread and the wild game plate.
Visit the oldest cafe in Tallinn, called the Maiasmokk. It's a little pricey but a really fantastic interior. Sit by one of the two windows, or visit the second floor (upstairs).
Drop by the Aptek (pharmacy) which is the oldest continuous running pharmacy in Europe. The ceilings are original so make sure to look up.
