XI'AN, CHINA - MUSLIM STREET FOOD & ANCIENT CITY WALL ????????
The seventh day of my journey around China, where I travel from Shanghai, to Chongqing, Chengdu, Xi'an and Beijing. l arrive in Xi'an and head straight to one of the city's most iconic images, the Bell Tower. In 39C heat, I explore some of Xi'an's quieter side streets, and then go on to discover the thriving Muslim Quarter, tasting the local unique street food. After dark, I walk on top of Xi'an's Ancient City Wall, seeing spectacular views of the city by night.

Walking in Xi An (China)
The city wall, the antique market, and the Muslim street.
Xi’an is a large city and capital of Shaanxi Province in central China. Once known as Chang’an (Eternal Peace), it marks the Silk Road’s eastern end and was home to the Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang dynasties' ruling houses.
Xi'an was the first city in China to be introduced to Islam. Emperor Gaozong of the Tang dynasty officially allowed the practice of Islam in AD 651. Xi'an has a large Muslim community, the significant majority are from the Hui group, there are an estimated 50,000 Hui Muslims in Xi'an.
From my film, you can see people from different cultures living together.
Thanks for watching.
Love&peace

Xi'an Info:
Xi'an, is the capital of Shaanxi Province. A sub-provincial city on the Guanzhong Plain in northwest China, it is one of the oldest cities in China, and the oldest of the Four Great Ancient Capitals, having held the position under several of the most important dynasties in Chinese history, including Western Zhou, Qin, Western Han, Sui, and Tang. Xi'an is the starting point of the Silk Road and home to the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang.
Since the 1990s, as part of the economic revival of inland China especially for the central and northwest regions, the city of Xi'an has re-emerged as an important cultural, industrial and educational centre of the central-northwest region, with facilities for research and development, national security and space exploration. Xi'an currently holds sub-provincial status, administering 9 districts and 4 counties. As of 2018 Xi'an has a population of 12,005,600, and the Xi'an–Xianyang metropolitan area a population of 12.9 million. It is the most populous city in Northwest China, as well as one of the three most populous cities in Western China, the other two being Chongqing and Chengdu. In 2012, it was named as one of the 13 emerging megacities, or megalopolises, in China

Xi'an Muslim Quarter Info:
The Muslim Quarter is the hub of the Muslim community in Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province. Located to the north of the West Street in the city centre, the quarter covers several blocks inhabited by over 20,000 Muslims. There are about ten mosques in the area of the Muslim Street, among which the Great Mosque in the Huajue Lane is the most famous and popular.
Muslim food and souvenir market is another feature of the area. The Beiyuanmen Muslim Market located just to the north of the Drum Tower is a great choice after the sightseeing in the city centre. About 500 meters (about 547 yards) in length from south to north, the street can be reached through the archway under the Drum Tower. This street is paved with dark colored stone with green trees providing heavy shade during summer; the buildings on both sides of the street are modeled on the styles of both the Ming (1368-1644) and the Qing Dynasties (1644-1911). Some of the constructions are restaurants; while others are stores. But here there is one thing in common: the owners are all Muslims.

China Tour: Xi'An City Wall Walkabout and History Lesson (part 1)
Walking on the Xi'An City Wall in China. This was the old Chinese Capital before Beijing. Part 2 here:
Tour in Xi'an, China | Street Food in China | Great wall of Xi'an
Traveled to Xi'an city of Shaanxi Province.
Places i visited are:
-The fortifications of Xi'an, also known as Xi'an City Wall, in Xi'an, an ancient capital of China, represent one of the oldest, largest and best preserved Chinese city walls. It has been refurbished many times since it was built in the 14th century, thrice at intervals of about 200 years in the later half of the 1500s and 1700s, and in recent years in 1983. The wall encloses an area of about 14 square kilometres.
-The Small Wild Goose Pagoda, sometimes Little Wild Goose Pagoda, is one of two significant pagodas in Xi'an, Shaanxi. The Small Wild Goose Pagoda was built between 707–709, during the Tang dynasty under Emperor Zhongzong of Tang. The pagoda stood 45 m until the 1556 Shaanxi earthquake. The earthquake shook the pagoda and damaged it so that it now stands at a height of 43 m with fifteen levels of tiers.

Xi'An China 2018
This is our second video from our trip to China. It's about the city of Xi'An in the province of Shaanxi, but it is mostly about the people living there. We were amazed to see how the people enjoy their city by taking their birds to the parks and doing various martial arts.
At night it's the various markets and especially the Muslim Market that comes alive.

Living like the Locals | Xi'an | CHINA
Today we kept it simple! We started our morning by heading out to more of a local area where we walked through a market, and ate some breakfast from a small mom and pop shop. It was really cool to visit more of a local area to see the day to day that many people live. Most people in China do their grocery shopping multiple times a week, buying fresh ingredients from the market and taking it home to eat. In the mornings, the streets are also filled with vendors who provide food and drinks to those heading off to work or school. We ate some of the most delicious and authentic food including: Xiao Mi Zhou and scallions buns.
We spent our afternoon heading over to and exploring the Big Wold Goose Pagoda. The Pagoda had a beautiful park leading up to it, with statues depicting different scenes of every day life. Upon entering the Pagoda area, you are greeted by a temple, with the Pagoda standing tall in the background. You can choose to purchase an additional ticket to enter walk up the Pagoda, to see some of the most beautiful views of the city. Overall, it was a nice, relaxing day.

Taxi Ride from Xi’An City to Xian Airport China
Views in the cab, on my taxi ride from Xi’An city to Xi’An airport Regal Hotel. The roads were very wide and smooth. The highways were even smoother. Along the way, saw many new builds. All of them were recently built and the taxi driver told us that they were all sold out. The pace of development in China is super fast.
