The great American poet Walt Whitman adopted Camden, New Jersey as his home in 1873 and lived there until his death in 1892. It was during this time that his fame grew widely due to the great popularity of Leaves of Grass. Whitman's Mickle Street house is now an historic site and he is buried nearby. Easter season outing in Yorkship Square in the Fairview Section of Camden, which section is also known as Yorkship Village. Parents L. Michael and Agnes Ruiz with their three children Michael (Sonny), Dennis (Denny), and Kenneth (Kenny). The girl in red was a bystander. Perhaps her parent shot the footage which includes my dad and mom. The last part is a shot from 2848 Idaho Road as neighbors appeared dressed in colorful clothes.

Tucked away in the heart of Camden,NJ, on Haddon Ave., is the beautiful Harleigh cemetery with many stone tombs and monuments, and a lake. Whitman is located in a small grove near one end of the lake. Easy access from the PATCO Ferry Ave. station. Some parking at the cemetery.
