Xiaoqi Village, located at the junction of Duanshen River and Xiaoqi River, is about 27 miles (45 kilometers) away from Wuyuan County, Jiangxi Province. First built in 787, this village is the hometown of a famous official who was in charge of salt during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). It features well-preserved ancient buildings and many ecological tea gardens. Visitors, thus, are able to appreciate its beautiful scenery while trying out the variety of famous tea. The village is nowadays gaining popularity among the locals and tourists alike. It is even considered to be the first village for tea culture in China. This village is like a pearl inlaid on the cultural eco-tourism line of Wuyuan and has become the National Eco-agriculture Model Village.
Sixi & Yancun Villages, Sikou Town, the northern part of Wuyuan County, Jiangxi Province, are about 11 miles (19 kilometers) off the center of the county. Built in 1199 during the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), these two villages have weathered 800 years. The buildings are mainly original structures in Huizhou style of Ming and Qing Dynasties (1368-1911). In an area of 19,135 square yards (16,000 square meters), there are 156 ancient houses. Among these five are of Ming and more than 80 are of Qing. Sixi & Yancun Villages feature beautiful scenery and abundant cultural relics. Nowadays, they are loved by local people and tourists. These two villages have become an icon of Wuyuan County.
Famous for having the most beautiful countryside in China, Huangling village in China’s Jiangxi Province launched helicopter tours from March 11, 2016 offering visitors the opportunity of a bird’s eye view of the region’s beautiful spring rapeseed flower blossom. Tours take off from Jiangwan Town airfield, about 28 kilometers from Huangling, fly by the village and over the magnificent flower terraces and Hui-style houses with their black roof tiles and white walls. Surrounded by green mountains and steep cliffs, Huangling village was settled hundreds of years ago and is recognized as one of the most beautiful destinations in China. With its towering trees, stone paths, winding creeks and rich folk culture, the ancient village also retains the unique folk tradition of shaiqiu, or “crop drying in mid-air” as villagers sun-dry chili pepper and corn harvests around the houses throughout the year.
