A museum special to Tottori Prefecture with the musicians behind wonderful children’s songs being featured in great numbers. There is a floor where you can hear classic songs on music boxes and phonographs, a “street” which will take you back to Japan in the 1950s, and another floor where you can play with old toys. You can see and touch these precious toys and experience the way children played back in the old days of Japan.

Jinpukaku ( 仁風閣 )

Jinpukaku is a Western-style residence which stands on the former castle site of the Ikeda clan who once ruled Tottori. Designed by Tokuma Katayama, who was also responsible for other famous buildings in Japan including Akasaka Palace and the Kyoto National Museum, it was completed in 1907. You can see this elegant Western-style building of Japan reflecting the times through the interior showing techniques blending Japanese and Western styles and a garden arranged around a pond.

Izushi is a castle town in a mountain valley in northern Hyogo Prefecture. Visitors can see examples of an ancient townscape including the surviving samurai residences from the Edo Era and the townhouses constructed in the early 20th century. In addition to the Shinkoro Clock Tower built in 1871 at Yaguradai and the Eirakudan playhouse built in 1901, there are many other highlights such as the Izushi Karoh Yashiki which is the former residence of a high-ranking samurai.

Kagome is a very famous children's song believed to date from the Meiji Period. The words vary and the meaning is not clear. The game is played with one child “it”, in the center of the circle wearing a blindfold or with eyes closed. The singing children circle around and when the song stops the child in the middle must guess who is behind them.

Temari.... Anta Gata Doko Sa is a children's rhyme sung while bouncing a ball, in earlier times a Temari. There are different versions of the words found in different areas of Japan and is believed to date from the late Edo/ early Meiji Period. It is believed to have originated in Kyushu, and is sometimes known as Higo Temari Uta.

Je termine ma balade dans la préfecture de Tottori dans la ville du même nom, je me perd dans les dunes de sable puis je vais admirer de gigantesque sculpture sur sable pour finir dans un musée du jouet à chanter des comptines japonaise dans une vielle salle de classe de la période Showa avec une prof en Kimono.
