Liberty Hall Historic Site in Frankfort, Kentucky
The starting point for Rockin' Thunder History Tour, Liberty Hall Historic Site can be traced back to 1786, when General James Wilkinson purchased much of the land that is downtown Frankfort. In 1796, Holmes sold the four acres to Senator John Brown (Kentucky).
Brown began construction of a home on the property shortly after purchasing it. The architect of Liberty Hall is unknown, although Brown may have done some of the design. One of the earliest brick homes in Frankfort, this structure was made from bricks fired locally from clay dug from the cellar. The construction continued until 1800 when the house was substantially complete. It lacked only the glass windows, which were added in 1804. In addition to the main house, several dependent structures were built on the property, including a kitchen and laundry, smokehouse, a privy, stables, carriage house, and slave quarters.
In 1835 John Brown divided his property in order that his sons would have equal inheritance. His elder son, Mason, inherited Liberty Hall. For his younger son, Orlando, Brown hired Gideon Shryock, designer of the Kentucky Capitol, to design a new house. Constructed in the Greek Revival style, the Orlando Brown House was built by local contractor Harrison Blanton. The entire project cost $5,000.
Today Liberty Hall and the adjacent Orlando Brown House are operated as a historic house museum and historic site. Public guided tours of Liberty Hall are given Monday-Saturday and depart from Liberty Hall located at 218 Wilkinson Street at 1:30 pm. Please note: Liberty Hall Historic Site is closed to the public for general tours during the winter months, mid-November through mid-March.

Richwood Plantation | Kentucky Life | KET
Antebellum plantations, with their elegant architecture and spacious grounds, often find new life as inns and event venues. Richwood Plantation, located in the Trimble County town of Milton, once encompassed some 2,000 acres along the Ohio River. Today, Richwood Plantation Inn is a bed and breakfast and an event venue on 117 acres, offering Southern hospitality in the elegantly restored main house and cottages on the grounds.
Built in 1803, the property features barns original to its plantation days. History buffs will appreciate knowing that President William McKinley once stayed here. The property was also home to the Richwood Plantation Riding School for Young Women. And fans of classic TV would be amused to know that TV's talking horse, Mr. Ed, spent time here with his owner.
With its comfortable decor and beautiful landscaping, Richwood Plantation Inn is a popular site for weddings and family reunions. Richwood caters to all types of events, including business conferences.

Magnolia Hall at Greensboro, Alabama
This beautiful Greek Revival style mansion was completed circa 1858. The house was designed by the architect, B. F. Parsons, who also designed the Perry County Courthouse in Marion, AL. W.E. Yerby, in his History of Greensboro, concluded that Magnolia Hall “is indisputably one of the finest antebellum mansions in Alabama…[and] a perfect example of late Greek Revival architecture.” The house contains front and rear facades that are virtually identical. Each has the same stunning line of six fluted columns of Ionic design, a full portico and a balcony with delicate iron grill-work. A pair of small Ionic design columns flanks the double doors on the front of the house. The house was recorded in the Historic American Buildings Survey in 1935 and 1936 and it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing property to the Greensboro Historic District.

SUMMARY
=======
Kentucky ( (listen) kən-TUK-ee), officially the Commonwealth of Kentucky, is a state located in the east south-central region of the United States. Although styled as the State of Kentucky in the law creating it, Kentucky is one of four U.S. states constituted as a commonwealth (the others being Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts). Originally a part of Virginia, in 1792 Kentucky became the 15th state to join the Union. Kentucky is the 37th most extensive and the 26th most populous of the 50 United States.
Kentucky is known as the Bluegrass State, a nickname based on the bluegrass found in many of its pastures due to the fertile soil. One of the major regions in Kentucky is the Bluegrass Region in central Kentucky, which houses two of its major cities, Louisville and Lexington. It is a land with diverse environments and abundant resources, including the world's longest cave system, Mammoth Cave National Park, the greatest length of navigable waterways and streams in the contiguous United States, and the two largest man-made lakes east of the Mississippi River.
Kentucky is also known for horse racing, bourbon distilleries, moonshine, coal, the My Old Kentucky Home historic national park, automobile manufacturing, tobacco, bluegrass music, college basketball, and Kentucky Fried Chicken.
