Video of 58 Country Club Circle | North Andover, Massachusetts real estate & homes by Robb Cohen
- Located in the prime neighborhood of an historic, desirable town, this expansive French Colonial home is built to the highest standards and offers every gracious amenity.
Within the desirable community of North Andover, Massachusetts, this home is in an enviable location. The northeast part of North Andover is dominated by Lake Cochichewick, which is also bordered by the Osgood Hill Reservation, Weir Hill Reservation and the Reas Pond Conservation Area. The town also is home to portions of Harold Parker State Forest, Boxford State Forest and the Charles W. Ward Reservation.
58 Country Club Circle, located at the rear of a four-house cul-de-sac across the street from Lake Cochichewick, is adjacent to preservation areas and the North Andover Country Club. The forested land behind the house will remain that way; no new building will ever intrude into the verdant view.
Designed in the French Country style, the house’s dormers and steeply pitched roofs are nestled into a beautifully landscaped 2-acre lot. The driveway, which curves and ascends towards the house, is bordered by a handsome stone wall with built-in lighting. Burning bush, pear trees, blue spruce and other plantings bring beauty and add to the privacy of the setting.
Sensitive and beautiful landscaping surrounds the home with such crowd pleasers as dogwood trees, rhododendrons, Japanese maples, azaleas, and more.
Finished to the highest level of quality, the interior boasts fine materials and finishes in every room. Smart House technology has been incorporated with nine individual screens that allow management of heating, cooling, security, lighting, video, and audio. The program also allows for off-site management via cell phone.
Doors opening to either side are crowned with transoms, a gracious touch made possible by the ten-foot ceilings.
The hall that leads under the bridge leads to the family room, a soaring two-story space that is dramatic with walls that slant to the ceiling between the three large windows. Below those windows, three French doors lead to the rear patio, making this an indoor-outdoor room during the summer months. A large fieldstone fireplace dominates one wall; on an adjacent wall, built-in cherry cabinetry hides the television and electronics.
The kitchen is a magnificent space that any home chef will covet. Crowned with a deeply coffered ceiling inlaid with the house’s distinctive varnished beadboard, the kitchen is accompanied by a dramatic octagonal eating area surrounded by windows.
The living room is a gracious space with inlaid hardwood flooring, a curved window bay, French doors leading to the limestone patio, and a paneled fireplace wall.
In this house, there are front stairs and back stairs, in the manner of traditional grand homes. The grand main stairs lead from the front entry hall to the dramatic bridge that provides views to below.
The master bedroom suite is a sybaritic (sabareatick) space that boasts a vaulted ceiling, a deeply incised and dramatically lit ceiling cove, a gas fireplace, and a Palladian window. His-and-hers closets and dressing areas flank the master bath. The amount of built-in storage is astonishing, as is the quality of the millwork.
The master bath is a luxurious spot with vaulted ceilings. A Jacuzzi tub is set into a Palladian window bay; his and hers sinks are located on opposite walls.
Two bathrooms are conveniently located along the upstairs hall, bringing the number of full baths in the house to five. (There are two additional half baths.)
The lower level has unusual 10-foot ceilings, the result of a builder directed to dig to double-depth levels. The result is a space with coffered ceilings and graceful proportions.
Beside the 9,000 square foot home, which has a 3-bay lower level garage, stands a carriage house that offers two additional bays of parking and a 1,000 square foot upstairs apartment. Ideal for au pairs, in laws, or guests, it is fully furnished with a kitchen, bedroom, and living room. The building – a miniature of the main house – has a large deck overlooking the forested rear of the property.
North Andover is a lovely town that boasts a historic white-steepled town green and a large, crystal clear lake that is its own private water supply. Nestled in the green Merrimack Valley, North Andover is renowned for its superb schools, both public and private, its shops and museums, its quiet, tree-lined neighborhood streets, and for its extensive network of user-friendly open and green spaces. Yet, for all its traditional New England charm, the town is only 24 miles from Boston.

Bay Circuit Trail : Andover MA Mary French Reservation.
Mary N. French (1933- 2001) was part of a visionary cohort of women who shaped open space outlooks in the Commonwealth.
Upon the introduction of wetlands preservation regulations, a gradual search for effective ways to balance development pressure with preservation mandates and the individual towns were the focus as both incubators for coherent open space preservation and points of conflict as gatekeepers for property speculation introductions.
These people had a profound role in the quality of life citizens of the Commonwealth enjoy today. They helped to make the America I'm proud to be a part of.

Ward Reservation New Boardwalk on the Bay Circuit Trail
Thanks to the hard work of Adam Rollfs, Chris Ward and many other TTOR workers and volunteers, Andover is now quite close to having a brand new boardwalk in the Ward Reservation across Mars Swamp. This 300+ foot boardwalk will allow us to move the Bay Circuit Trail off of Prospect Road and the always busy Route 125, as well as offer tremendous bird and wildlife viewing opportunities

Bay Circuit Trail Andover MA: Harold R. Rafton A.V.I.S. Reservation Part 1.
The largest of the AVIS reservations. Maple, birch, oak, hickory and sassafras trees can be found in these serene woods. Tall white pines grow along the ridges and hilltops and the ski loop trail passes through lovely hemlock groves. The forest floor is carpeted with ferns, partridgeberry and teaberry. Deer, beaver, fox and numerous bird species have been observed here.
History:
Rafton is the largest of the AVIS reservations. In 1968, this property was named for Harold R. Rafton, Andover's sturdiest conservationist. Mr. Rafton's ability to persuade landowners to sell or bequeath land to AVIS for conservation and public use is legendary. Rafton Reservation was once farmland and woodlot. Many of the old stone walls remain, evidence of this area's agricultural past. An annual winter breakfast followed by skiing or hiking through the reservation has become a modern AMC and AVIS tradition.

Hiking in Fells Reservation (Boston Skyline)
FitgunFitness.net presents Hiking in Fells Reservation (Boston Skyline). We caught some great video of the Boston skyline on our trek through Fells. Not one of our favorite hikes, but the view of Boston is one the best!!
Massachusetts Walking Tour
This is a group of troubadours who call themselves Massachusetts Walking Tour, they walk/hike trails in Massachusetts (Bay Circuit Trail for instance) carrying their instruments and playing for people along the way; impromptu and pre-scheduled times locations. They do this gratis, both to call attention to our state’s scenic trails, parks, forests and other open spaces and of course, for the music. Their repertoire includes a variety of music - Folk, C&W, Blue Grass, Blues - they play covers and originals. I recorded this phone vid in Ashland Sunday June 22, 2015.

There is always something interesting about a place that has been left alone to the decay of time. Places that once had such purpose and life now lie in ruins. Old paint slowly chipping away after the years and metal rusting over has always seemed to have a certain depth that I cannot easily describe. It's a solemn feeling to emerge from the dark basement of an old mental hospital, through an elevator shaft, into the great halls where thousands of patients once walked. The unknown amount of sadness and despair that was then the daily norm for so many patients has almost been locked inside the walls as they too now sit in turmoil. The cruelty of time is never kind to places such as this, but amidst it all, there is beauty to be found in these ruins.
Ward Pound Ridge Reservation
Ward Pound Ridge Reservation - Lewisboro, NY
July 15th, 2018
This is a maintenance hike I did this past Sunday, totalling 7.6 miles (10.2 initially). Real-feel temperatures were in the mid-90s leading to an increase in the amount of water I was drinking. Not having my water filter with me, I decided on cutting the loop a little short.
I usually don't film while I'm here because I try to keep a high-3mph pace (hard to film and talk going that fast) but decided this was a good time to introduce you all to one of the best places for easy/moderate hiking in Westchester County. There is huffing and puffing but I tried to keep my normal pace so it was inevitable. In a given year, I put in around 300-325 miles in the park.
It features over 800' of elevation at it highest point, 30+ miles of trails, it has ridges, rivers, fishing, plenty of camping options (for a fee)...just talking about it makes me want to go right now!
There is a $10 parking fee for non-park pass holders and $5 with the pass. Additional information on the park can be found at:
Enjoy and safe travels everyone!
