Rostock is the largest city in the north German state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Rostock is on the Warnow river; the district of Warnemünde 7 miles north of the city center is directly on the Baltic Sea coast.
This is the third port on my eleven day Baltic cruise on the Emerald Princess. In this video I visit St. Mary's Church and Market Square in Rostock before returning to the ship in Warnemünde for the sail away.

DAY 17 - HOW TO TRAVEL IN WARNEMUNDE, GERMANY
The Baltic sea reminds me of my childhood and great vacations with my family. I took a bike ride with my favorite person to explore the beautiful beaches along the coast. If you are ever in Warnemunde, this is a must to explore the more natural side and simply get around quicker in the town. I will also take you to a hidden small but mighty bee keepers home that sells honey. Enjoy and thumbs up! ????

Rostock is a North German circular city, university and Hanseatic city on the Baltic Sea. It is located in the district of Mecklenburg of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. With 206,011 inhabitants (2015) it is the most populous city as well as currently the only major city of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Along with Schwerin, Neubrandenburg, Stralsund and Greifswald, the Regiopole is one of the four upper centers of the country and is culturally and economically a significant city in the southern eastern seas.

Warnemünde, Germany
Warnemünde is a seaside resort and a district of the city of Rostock in Mecklenburg, Germany.
It is located on the Baltic Sea and, as the name implies, at the estuary of the river Warnow. Warnemünde is one of the world's busiest cruise ports.
Founded in about 1200, Warnemünde was for centuries a small fishing village with minor importance for the economic and cultural development of the region.
In 1323 Warnemünde lost its autonomous status as it was purchased by the city of Rostock in order to safeguard the city's access to the Baltic Sea.
It was not until the 19th century that Warnemünde began to develop into an important seaside resort. Today Warnemünde has approximately 8,400 inhabitants.

Warnemunde Germany cruise port is a cute little town with a beach, lighthouse, little shops and train station with easy access to Rostock. It was Ascension day on the day we visited Warnemunde cruise port so quite a few places were closed, but it was a lovely cruise port.

A car ferry route has operated from Gedser to Rostock in Germany since 1995, served by Scandlines.
The two ferries M/F Copenhagen and M/F Berlin have capacity for 480 cars or 96 lorries and up to 1,500 passengers. This will more than double previous capacity on the Gedser-Rostock route.

When you take an excursion on the ship there is one big plus... you are guaranteed that the ship will wait for you when you're late.
