Wine Week 192: Around Rutherglen (and beyond).
Last week Danny was up around Rutherglen. While the region is definitely best known for its stunning fortifieds and bold durifs, Danny brought back a couple of wines that break the mould. The first is a rosé from Scion that's bone dry despite being made from a grape more normally associated with sweet whites. Then there is the Stanton & Killeen Prince Reserva, a wine made for the table with grapes normally associated with Portuguese fortified wines. In between Brad takes us over to the over side of Australia with a great value Shiraz from Xabregas in the Great Southern region of WA.
Sam Scarpari's WINE PASSIONS #112 - Warrabilla 09 Zinfandel - Rutherglen Wine Region
Im looking at an Australian made Zinfandel produced from the Rutherglen wine region in Victoria. Rutherglen is more recognized for their world famous fortifieds and Durif table wines, but I was able to find this Zinfandel valued at $15. Dense, cherry driven fruit, with dusty chalk notes and smooth round tannins - Its a fantastic alternative to a good well made Shiraz

Wine Week Interview series: David Morris from Morris Wines
Once again we're not sitting behind our desk, but out and about and talking to winemakers in the second of four special episodes in our interview series.
Recorded live at the Good Food & Wine show in Melbourne, Danny chats to the David Morris from Morris Wines. Morris Wines are probably best know for their fortified wines, which have an unparalleled track record at the Rutherglen Wine Show - the toughest wine show in Australia for stickies due to being the home of so many of Australia finest fortified wine producers.
Wine Week 222: Top Triple Tipples!
It's all about triples this week on episode 222 of Wine Week. We start by looking at Penfolds Bin 09A, the third vintage in a row from this wine that has us asking if it is the best Chardonnay in Australia? We then head over to Margaret River to recommend the Vasse Felix Cab Merlot from 2009, the third of three stunning years for the WA hot spot. And rounding out the week Danny suggests you grab a wood fired pizza this Friday night and combine it with the Paxton AAA Shiraz Grenache.
Let's Taste - All Saints Family Cellar Marsanne & Shiraz 2013 and Durif 2012
I was recently contacted by Angela Brown who is one of the owners of the historic All Saints Estate in the North-East Victorian region of Rutherglen. Considered to be one of the best producers in one of the best regions for fortified wines, All Saints also makes some outstanding table wines. On this episode of Let's Taste I look at their Family Cellar wines and share my impressions.
