Extreme Weather Timpe Lapse at Stanwell Park
Our Stanny Cam webcam at Stanwell Park, NSW captures the extremes of Australia's weather: First, two days with winds over 50 knots (100km/hr+), and then a 3rd day that turns into some magic winter flying for the hang glider and paraglider pilots launching from Bald Hill.
Sharing the Love, Hang Gliding Bald Hill Australia
Here's a 45 second highlight clip of our 30 minute hang gliding tandem flights at Bald Hill, Stanwell Park, Australia's iconic free-flying site. Enjoy!

Tasmania Drifter Tour 2015
A hang gliding dream that came to life with 8 pilots and a camera man, covering 4000 kms in two weeks, flying XC from inland mountains, soaring coastal ridges, and skimming the sand dunes of Tasmania.
Thanks to all the lovely Tasmanian Pilots, and Lofty for capturing and editing it.
Dune Gooning Bliss
Hang gliding the low sand dunes at Cronulla, Sydney, on a Monday afternoon with good friends Alex, Pablo, & JC. It was blown out at Stanwell Park, so we road tripped it out to the Wanda Dunes, then to Northies for a debrief.
WindSport Hang Gliding NSW Steve and Karen's Adventure
This is my first hang gliding video filmed on location at Stanwell Tops in New South Wales, Australia. I had an excellent instructor/pilot Curt Warren from Warren Windsports. Curt and his staff were incredibly experienced and wonderful to work with.
Have fun with this video and give this sport a try, you'll love it!! Oh, you are not too old for this leap of faith I was 69 when I took the jump.

Hang Gliding truck-tow up to 2000ft over Lake George Australia
A massive hang gliding truck tow by our student Chris, using our Cloudstreet Winch.
The site is one of Australia's finest hang gliding and paragliding inland sites: Lake George. Only 30 minutes from the nation's capital, Canberra. And only 2.5 hours from Sydney. Pilots regularly enjoy some nice XC flights from various hills in the area, as well as some sublime evening soaring flights along the 30km ridge (as was the case in this video!).
BIG thanks to Canberra pilot Mark Sullivan, @MrFlyRide , for capturing and editing this video.
Stanwell Morning Session
Our visiting hang gliding friends, Alex and Jonas, capture some flying after they see the Stanwell Tops windsock from the pool below.

Hang Gliding Australia -- That's Freedom
A compilation of some memorable flights -- including some great landings.... and the not so perfect too! The previously deleted scenes :-)
The video of the aerotowing and ground towing are from courses, run by Warren Windsports, a fantastic experience and highly recommended. The payout Cloudstreet Winch is incredibly smooth for launching, Even with Steve's smooth flying through the turbulent air the aerotowing behing the Moyes Dragonfly can be a bit of a wild ride - a handful of fun and totally different to the smooth hydraulic payout winch.
The footage around Corryong was from the Corryong Cup 2011 competition, over 70 registered pilots and a handful of free flyers enjoying the best the local area has to offer. Mixing it with my floater wing amongst all of the high speed wings in the gaggle on my first flight on day 1 was an interesting experience and eye-opening introduction to competition!
Every flight is always different, it pays to never be complacent always ready for changes in conditions. The rock-and-roll landing at 7:15 was caused by a thermal launching on my approach, triggered by me flying into what was already a slight downhill paddock -- gives extra meaning to the term tail wind landing!
Flying can be a busy time in gaggles as you will see, and it can be solitary at times too. But at launch, in the landing paddock, and later in the pub or at camp it is always social and friendly -- hang gliding pilots are a special breed for sure.
I hope you enjoy watching this as much as I enjoyed the experience of all of these flights :-)
Hang gliding - Ground Towing Clinic, Rylstone Australia 2010
A weekend of ground towing in the beautiful Rylstone countryside with Curt Warren of Warren Windsports using a pay-out winch bolted to the 4WD tow joint.
The winch has thousands of feet of line and adjustable hydraulic valves that regulate the amount of tension on the spool and in the line, making for a very very smooth flight as the hydraulic valves adjust for everything, including when the 4WD is changing gears, speeding up, slowing down, or when the glider hits a thermal.
The tension in the line keeps the parachute closed, and when the quick release is operated and the line goes slack the parachute opens. This gives Curt time to reel the line in smoothly with the slight drag on the line feeling the line onto the spool smoothly, and prevents the line from being damaged from being dragged across the ground.
The cattle see plenty of aircraft taking off/landing on this small airstrip, but nothing quite like us before so they came over to check us out.
The very clear nights made for cold nights, a very frosty morning, but equally also gave us a beautiful clear blue sky. Hard to believe this is winter!
It was a great night too with a fire in the club house and plenty of stories flowing with the red wine. Thanks to the Moyes crew, Vicki and Gringo Greg for their delicous dinner with its extra chilli surprise to add some heat on a cold night!!
Hang Gliding Sydney w Curt at WarrenWindSports com
While in Sydney Australia I took two 30 minutes lessons from Curt Warren, owner WarrenWindSports.com. Although Curt doesn't talk much about it, he's been National Hang Gliding Champion of Australia and the US.
The views are just beautiful (even better in person), and Curt is easy company, very safe, and lots of fun. Highly recommended for both experienced pilots or if you've never flown and just want to have fun. Curt tailored the flights to be very mellow and scenic for the two women that went before me but had never flown before: both had a great time.
I learned how little input it really takes to turn (the secret Ninja turn on the first lesson not shown) and a lot of other stuff....Its not every day you get to fly with a world class expert who will also make you feel very comfortable
If in Sydney, you should give this a try!
Hang Gliding Again After 30 years
Neil's first high SOLO flight after a 30 year break from the sport. Footage taken at Hill 60, Wollongong, Australia, while taking a refresher course with Warren Windsports. Refresher is an understatement after that long, but he still had some great skills...
