ABANDONED THEME PARK - Rocky Point in Warwick , Rhode Island
ABANDONED AMUSEMENT PARK - Rocky Point in Warwick , RI
[ Remnants of the 1964 World's Fair ]
Rocky Point originally opened in 1847 with one of their main attractions being their dining hall that overlooked Narragansett Bay. Later on the park began adding rides and attractions to give visitors something else to do other than eat. Over the years, Rocky Point became one of the most popular tourist destinations in all of New England. In the 1990's the park began to fall on hard times causing the park to close in 1995.
Rocky Point sat abandoned until some teenagers hooligans decided to set the place on fire in the early 2000's which caused officials to demolish most of the remains of the old amusement park. But not everything was lost and in this video we are going to so you what remains at Rocky Point. So come along and join us as we go explore the remnants of an old abandoned theme park in Rhode Island.

James Woods, Warwick native, celebrated at Warwick Public Library, 9/11/2015
The career of actor James Woods, born in Warwick, Rhode Island, was celebrated at Warwick Public Library on Friday, September 11, 2015, with a showing of Videodrome (1983), the first in a series of 12 of his movies to be shown during the year. James Woods was on hand to accept a citation from Warwick's mayor (and longtime friend) Scott Avedisian, and answered questions and signed autographs after the film's showing.
Woods' late mother was fondly remembered, as was his late brother, Michael Woods, who was once a mayoral candidate, running against Avedisian.
Applauding James Woods: 12 Brilliant Film Performances, a Friday night film series, continues with a film each month, October through August, 2016; see the library's website, warwicklibrary.org, for the schedule and times.

Warwick, RI: Shared Montgomery (TK Rehab) Traction Elevator @ Warwick Mall
This is another oldie but goodie, a Montgomery Traction Elevator, rehabilitated by ThyssenKrupp. This elevator is shared with Target, Sports Authority, and Off Broadway Shoes in the Warwick Mall, Warwick, Rhode Island.
AGAIN, just like theother elevator in JC Penney, TK overhauled this one after a massive flood destroyed the first level of the mall. The only real difference is that this one had stainless steel doors, so TK didn't have to replace them with their own, like they did in JCP. Notice the cab has the EXACT SAME DESIGN, that PROVES the JCP one is indeed a Monty. (Some are persistent it's not, but us older people see things the young ones don't. :P)
Anyway, like the 1970 sister in Macy's, it's got the epic motor, so we take a couple trips. The loud music ruins it some, but it's little enough (post-edit) it should be fine. The video also doesn't do the sound justice, and the ride itself wasn't too bad. Not perfect, but not bad.
