Illinois Adventure #1703 Lincoln's Tomb
Dedicated in 1874, Lincoln Tomb is the final resting place of Abraham Lincoln, his wife Mary, and three of their four sons, Edward, William, and Thomas. Also on the site is the public receiving vault, constructed ca. 1860, the scene of funeral services for Abraham Lincoln on May 4, 1865. In 1960 the Tomb was designated a National Historic Landmark and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966.
The 117-foot Tomb, designed by sculptor Larkin Mead, is constructed of brick sheathed with Quincy granite. The base is 72-foot square with large semi-circular projections on the north and south sides. Double sets of north and south stairs lead to a terrace, above which rises the obelisk. At the corners of the shaft, large pedestals serve as bases for four bronze sculptures, each with a group of figures representing one of the four Civil War services—infantry, artillery, cavalry, and navy. A taller base on the obelisk's south side holds a heroic bronze statue of Lincoln. At the Tomb entrance is a bronze reproduction of Gutzon Borglum's marble head of Lincoln, located in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.

Driving downtown - Troy, NY. USA
Troy is a city in the U.S. state of New York and the seat of Rensselaer County. The city is located on the western edge of Rensselaer County and on the eastern bank of the Hudson River. Troy has close ties to the nearby cities of Albany and Schenectady, forming a region popularly called the Capital District. The city is one of the three major centers for the Albany Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), which has a population of 1,170,483. At the 2010 census, the population of Troy was 50,129.
The Central Troy Historic District is an irregularly shaped, 96-acre area of downtown Troy, New York, United States. It has been described as one of the most perfectly preserved 19th-century downtowns in the [country]with nearly 700 properties in a variety of architectural styles from the early 19th to mid-20th centuries. These include most of Russell Sage College, one of two privately owned urban parks in New York, and two National Historic Landmarks. Visitors ranging from the Duke de la Rochefoucauld to Philip Johnson have praised aspects of it. Martin Scorsese used parts of downtown Troy as a stand-in for 19th-century Manhattan in The Age of Innocence.
In 1986, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), superseding five smaller historic districts that had been listed on the Register in the early 1970s.(Two years later, in 1988, the extension of the previous River Street Historic District north of Federal Street was added separately to the NRHP as the Northern River Street Historic District.) There are many buildings designed by the regionally significant architect Marcus F. Cummings. The downtown street plan was borrowed from Philadelphia, and one neighborhood, Washington Square, was influenced by London's squares of its era.
The district reflects Troy's evolution from its origins as a Hudson River port into an early industrial center built around textile manufacture and steelmaking. During this period it was rebuilt twice in the wake of two devastating fires, resulting in its mix of architecture styles. After the decline of its industries in the mid-20th century, downtown Troy was threatened by urban renewal efforts that galvanized local preservationists, leading to the early NRHP listings and eventually the creation of the district.

ABOUT THIS FEED:
Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada, in the Canadian Rockies, is located on the Canadian Pacific Railway (CP), where their Shuswap Sub meets their Mountain Sub. The Shuswap Sub runs to the west to Kamloops, BC (towards Vancouver, BC), and the Mountain Sub runs to the east to Field, BC, through Rogers Pass.
The CP traverses the Canadian Rockies over 2 passes. Rogers Pass, which is to the immediate east of Revelstoke, and further east, Kicking Horse Pass, which is to the immediate east of Field. Rogers Pass is at 4,360 feet (1,330 meters), and Kicking Horse Pass is at 5,339 feet (1,627 meters). To the west of Revelstoke is the lower Eagle Pass, at 1,804 feet (550 meters).
Among the freight trains seen here are unit potash, unit grain, and unit coal. Loaded westbounds feature both mid-train and end-of-train DPU’s, and empty eastbounds have fewer engines, both on front and as DPU’s. Many but not all eastbounds will stop to enter the yard, which is located to the east of the museum and cameras. Also seen are manifests, intermodal, and combined intermodal/manifest..
On occasion, the gates will activate, but will soon after deactivate, with no train, which is due to the switcher in the yard proceeding far forward enough to enter the crossing's track circuit.
There are no VIA Rail passenger trains through Revelstoke, however, during part of the year the Rocky Mountaineer can be seen.
There are 2 ATCS layouts, one for each sub, but there is no server coverage. No radio feeds are available.
There’s no schedule for freight trains, but some of our more knowledgeable members will provide real-time information when it’s available. Please refrain from asking.

8. The Navy and the Unidentified Craft
It's a well documented fact that the first modern sighting of a UFO was done by a pilot in the state of Washington well before Roswell. However, while you would think that the military would be one of the last people nowadays to report a sighting, that's not true, and an incident in 2004 can prove that.
7. D.S. “Sonny” DesVergers and the Scouts
One common thread among UFO encounter stories is that they are often spotted by people who randomly investigate things that don't look right, such as Scoutmaster D.S. “Sonny” DesVergers. For in 1952, he was driving some Scouts around in South Florida, when suddenly, he saw some lights going into the nearby trees in West Palm Beach.
6. Planes and the UFO
Flying is the safest form of transportation believe it or not, and many find the view at those heights very soothing and relaxing. Not so for two aircraft pilots during routine flights over Arizona in 2018.
The incident in question happened first with a Learjet 36. A pilot was flying the craft over Arizona when he noticed something that shouldn't be there, another aircraft.
5. First Sighting in America
While it is true that the modern age of UFO sightings happened in the 1900's, the first sighting in America of UFOs happened in 1639. Granted, this was not a firsthand sighting. In fact, it's noted that the writer of this tale, John Winthrop, recorded the tale after hearing it from a man he believed to be trustworthy.
4. Astro-Not?
Many people see UFOs, and while many of them aren't credible for one reason or another, others are at the very least credible by reputation. Such as what happened in 2013 with a former pilot, and astronaut. The man chose to remain anonymous, but his sighting was documented. He was in Athens, Texas when he saw something in the sky.
3. Trudel Sighting
There have been many pictures taken of UFOs over the years, but one of the most famous, and infamous of them all are pictures taken by Harold Trudel on June 10th, 1967. Trudel was a longtime believer in UFOs, and has claimed to have seen them multiple times before he took these legendary pictures.
2. Square Craft
In North Carolina, there is a man named Javion Hill. On August 18th, 2018, Hill's life was changed forever. He was driving in Charlotte, North Carolina on US 74, talking to his wife on his phone when he spotted something he couldn't explain. There were lights in the sky. But more than that, these lights had a shape to them that made it look like no other craft he had ever seen.
1. Gate Crasher
In Chicago, Illinois in 2006, there was a sighting of a UFO that got the attention of many at the airport. This craft wasn't in the sky, or floating around the airport proper. Rather, it was staged at Gate C17. This was first spotted by a person on the tarmac at O'Hare. But as time went on, more and more people started to see the craft too.

President Obama Arrives at Capitol
Rev. Rob Schenck and his executive assistant Peggy Birchfield captured this serendipitous video of the presidential motorcade arriving at the US Capitol today. The two were on their way to an appointment. While inside, President Obama addressed members from both houses of Congress in celebration of the 200th birthday of Abraham Lincoln.
