Historic Shields Mansion Destroyed - Anaconda MT
The Shields Mansion was destroyed by fire just before midnight on Friday July 14th. There were 2 other suspicious fires around town within days of this one.
The fire Marshall in Butte Montana stated that the home is not salvageable.
The Shields Mansion was built by the sister of Copper King Marcus Daly. Marcus Daly's Anaconda mansion was demolished in the 1980's to make way for a school gymnasium. However his Hamilton Montana mansion recently went through an extensive restoration.
