Lamphun is one of the northern provinces of Thailand (around 30 km from Chiang Mai). Wat Chamthewi or Wat Ku Kut, commonly referred to a Ku Kut , is located on the Lamphun-San Pa Tong Road and built in 1298 B.E. in the Lawo (Lopburi) style. The Chedi is a square structure similar to Buddhagaya in India. Around the Chedi are levels of arches holding a total of 60 Buddha statues. Ashes of the queen are enshrined within the Chedi.

Lamphun
Lamphun is one of the oldest and the smallest province in the Northern Region. It was formerly called Hariphunchai. The first ruler of Hariphunchai was Queen Chamathewi, a daughter of the Lawo king. At present, Lamphun is famous for its cultural arts that are reflected in the true Lanna style temples and pagodas that have exquisite designs as well as handcrafts, especially the renowned Yok Dok silk and beautiful national parks.
