Hi guys and welcome back to my channel on my Peace Corps Thailand experience! This video is a tour of my site's most famous temple, which doubles as one of the most important temples in Thailand for Buddhists to visit. It's literally up the street from my house, but last Saturday was the first time I ever went up it. I've been to the surrounding area, but climbing it had never occurred to me before. It's stunning and I plan to visit once a week to read/journal on it's second level, where there's a backdrop of a beautiful mountainscape. วัดพระบรมธาตุไชยา - Wat Phra Borom That Chaiya
Wat Phra Borom That Chaiya (วัดพระบรมธาตุไชยา) or written: Wat Phra Boromathat Chaiya, Wat Phra Borommathat Chaiya Worawihan, is a monastery with the Phra Borommathat Chaiya pagoda (พระบรมธาตุไชยา), in Changwat Surat Thani (จังหวัดสุราษฎร์ธานี) and is nearby to Ban Pho (บ้านโพธิ์), Ban Don Phot (บ้านดอนพต) and Chaiya (ไชยา).
- Attraction Details:
Located approximately 4 kilometers northeast of Suan Mok or about 54 kilometers north of the provincial capital, this ancient chedi is home to Buddha relics highly reserved by local residents where sculptures and Buddha images can be seen in the courtyard . The restored Phra Borom That Chaiya is a fine example of Srivijava’s influence on religious architecture and is believed to be built over 1,200 years ago.
Wat Phra Borom That Chaiya is also close to Chedi Wat Long (เจดีย์วัดหลง), Chedi Wat Kaeo (เจดีย์วัดแก้ว), Sathani Rotfai Chaiya (สถานีรถไฟไชยา, สถานีไชยา), Rongphayaban Chaiya (โรงพยาบาลไชยา) and Sathani Rotfai Khao Phanom Baek (ถานีรถไฟเขาพนมแบก, สถานีเขาพนมแบก).
The school is Wat Phra Borom That Chaiya (โรงเรียนวัดพระบรมธาตุไชยา).
