It is located within the Bohinj Valley of the Julian Alps, in the northwestern Upper Carniola region, and part of Triglav National Park.

THE MAGNIFICENT SAVICA WATERFALL
Your time spent in Bohinj would not be complete without a day trip to one of Slovenia’s greatest waterfalls. To reach the waterfall it’s a roughly 30 minutes walk up a thickly forested slope. The waterfall itself drops a towering 78m into a large water sink, which is located at an altitude of 500m. An inspirational sight, it has often been written about by well-known Slovenian poets and writers. A small entrance fee is required at the entrance to the site.
The Savica Waterfall is the source of the Sava Bohinjka, known under the name of Savica to the spot where it flows into Lake Bohinj. It is one of the must-see sights for Bohinj first-timers, and it is possible that you will join those who visit Savica each and every time they come to Bohinj.
Savica is very unique among world waterfalls – its watercourse is divided into two parts in the hidden undergrounds. The famous A-shaped waterfall normally comes into sight at an altitude of 836 m and is 78 m high.
It is fed by the waters from the Valley of the Triglav Lakes and Pršivec that flow to it through a horizontal cave tunnel. The Karst cave with the source is full of syphons and lakes and is only accessible with a guide and proper equipment.
HIKING STARTING POINT
Koča pri Savici hut is a starting point for hikes to Komna and the Valley of the Seven Triglav Lakes. The first hiking trail leads from Dom Savica on the left side (not in the direction of the waterfall) through the Pekel valley. The hike to the Dom na Komni hut takes approximately three hours.
The second hiking trail goes across the bridge over the Savica by the hut and then towards Komarča. The steep and sometimes quite open but well-secured trail with magnificent views takes you first to the Črno Jezero lake and then to the hut at the Dvojno Jezero lake (a 4 to 5-hour walk).

It has a total of 22 kilometres (14 mi) of ski slopes, 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) tracks for cross country skiing and a snowboard park. The ski resort is located on the outskirts of Triglav National Park, therefore all snowmaking activities are forbidden on the area.
Lake Bohinj covering 318 hectares (790 acres), is the largest permanent lake in Slovenia. It is located within the Bohinj Valley of the Julian Alps, in the northwestern Upper Carniola region, and part of Triglav National Park. Lake Bohinj is 4.2 km (2.6 mi) long and 1 km (0.62 mi) at its maximum width. It is a glacial lake dammed by a moraine.
Savica Falls is a waterfall in northwestern Slovenia. It is 78 m high and is fed by a karst spring also called Savica just above the waterfall. A large portion of water is sourced from a karst basin around Black Lake, which lies around 500 m higher above the waterfall, because of which the spring has a relatively steady and strong flow. After heavy rains it can happen that the water supply from the lake and its surroundings exceeds the capacity of underground tunnels, and a portion of water flows on the surface in 600 m high cascading waterfal.

Jezero milo
ti si me umilo
slapom svojim
iz stijene ledenjačke
Uzdiglo mi duh
pročistilo kanale
Puno si prane
koja bistrinu i kontakt
sa Višim Sebe daje.
Hvala ti planino
tu gdje bijele vile caruju
a zlatorog rogovima svojim
oblake para skačući po vrhovima.
Translation from Croatian:
Dear lake
you washed my face
with your waterfall
from the glaciers rock
You lifted my spirit
and purified my channels
You are filled with Prana
which gives me clarity and contact
with Higher Self
Thank you hills
for your white fairies
and a mountain goat
which touches the clouds
with it's golden horns.
