TASMANIA THE GATHERING OF THE NORFOLK PLAINS
Tasmania's Norfolk Plains were named to acknowledge the Norfolk Islanders expelled from the island in 1813, and resettled in this part of Tasmania (the area comprising the towns and rural properties around Longford, Cressy, Bishopsbourne, Illawarra and Perth).
A Gathering on the Norfolk Plains was an event held across the weekend of 1 -- 3 March 2013. The weekend was a wonderful success with thousands of people came to the Norfolk Plains to enjoy the activities which included a community BBQ on the Village Green, Old Time Music Hall, Descendants Day, a graveyard performance, informative, historic displays, art exhibitions, a community photograph and the launch of a commemorative book and medallion.

Why Are 96,000,000 Black Balls on This Reservoir?
I took a boat through 96 million black plastic balls on the Los Angeles reservoir to find out why they're there. The first time I heard about shade balls the claim was they reduce evaporation. But it turns out this isn't the reason they were introduced.
Huge thanks to LADWP for arranging this special tour for me. Next time let's put the GoPro on the submersible!
The balls are made of high density polyethylene (HDPE) which is less dense than water so they float on the surface of the reservoir even if they break apart. They are 10cm (4 inches) in diameter and contain about 210ml of water. So the main reason they are on the reservoir is to block sunlight from entering the water and triggering a chemical reaction that turns harmless bromide into carcinogenic bromate. This effect occurs with prolonged exposure to bromate so regulators insist that levels be kept below 10 microgram per liter on average over a 12 month period.

這次沒看到極光超失望,因為是2號出現,我們居然睡著了....
Ps:旅程中分享一些實用的小資訊
1.在塔私自駕旅行實用也常用的APP搜尋(Wiki Camps AU , Fuel map , Booking.com , Airbnb , Agoda)
2.如果晚上在有些偏遠小鎮要洗烘衣服(Laundry),可以到比較大規模的露營區都有,但是要看運氣有些需要鑰匙有些不用。
(Wiki Camps AU app
7.Banjo's連鎖麵包店真的好吃
8.塔斯餐點分量真的便宜也很足夠(凱恩斯一樣的價錢,分量快兩倍多)

Bucket Wheel Excavator (Bagger 293)
The Bagger 293 is a giant bucket-wheel excavator built in Germany in 1995. It requires a crew of five to operate and can move over 8.5 million cubic feet of earth per day. The Bagger 293 uses a large 70-foot rotating wheel at the end of a long arm. This wheel has a series of buckets attached, and as the wheel rotates the buckets pick up the earth and dump it onto a conveyor belt. The conveyor belts will transport the earth to other vehicles for removal to the dumping site.

Using dredged sediment near the River Bure
The Broads Authority’s maintenance dredging activities in the Broadland rivers generates thousands of tonnes of sediment each year. In this short video filmed near Stokesby on the River Bure, dredged sediment is being used to strengthen the floodbank which protects the land behind from high water levels. The reeded edge of the river is also in the process of being restored so that the future reed grown for thatching is as healthy as possible.

Amazing EVP caught on video
This video was recorded at the 200 year old Richmond Gaol Tasmania in one of the isolation cells in 2011. At the very start of the video up until 4 seconds, one can clearly hear the voice of a man saying either Just you wait or Must you wait. At the time of the filming nothing was heard in the isolation cell, only after replaying the recorded footage. Could this be a case of EVP of paranormal origin?
How to Pass Your Driving Road Test | Driving Lessons
Watch more How to Drive videos:
So what I want to do today is give you a good understanding of what to expect on a driver's road test, and give you some tips on how to pass the test.
And the test is basically a series of turns, some rights, and some lefts, and then two maneuvers, a broken U-turn, and parallel parking.
So for the right turn, where we'll start, the basic idea for the right turn is that you're going to have your car over to the right side of the lane that you're on and you're going to make sure you make the turn into the right lane of the street that you're going onto. Pretty much no guesswork in a right turn. It's always the same, from right to right at all times. Right lane to right lane.
The left turn is a lot trickier. And the left turn is the one that may get you on that road test. And the reason for the left turn being trickier is because you've got some decisions to make on the left. Do I make the turn into this lane or that lane? That will be determined whether or not that's a one-way or a two-way street. So you're ability to recognize that will be crucial on your road test.
What are some of the ways you can tell? A one-way street typically will have a sign on either corner. If you see a sign it's usually a one-way. It'll have an arrow on it. Therefore, the rule of thumb on the turns being closest to the available lane, if you see the one-way sign, the turn has to go into the left lane. If the street doesn't have a sign and it has a line down the middle, you can tell by the color of the line whether or not it's a one-way or a two-way. A white line would indicate one-way street. Again, you'll make your turn onto the left side. A yellow line indicates a two-way street, which means that you've got to make the turn out to the right side of the street.
The most difficult one will be the street that doesn't have the line on it. The way you can tell on a street like that, look for the direction of the parked cars. If they're parked in opposite directions, that's going to indicate a two-way street. Remember your rule of thumb, you choose the closest available lane, and you're going to swing out to the right. This is the turn that typically tricks people the most on the road test.
Your two maneuvers are a parking, and a broken U-turn. Broken U-turn real simple, you just pull over against the curb on the right, put your indicator on. The whole idea is to take your car from the right side here, bring it across to the other side, then you're going to back up, and then you're going to go back the same way you came on that roadway.
My tip for this is when you're doing the backing part, you don't want to back up all the way to the other curb, because usually when you do that you come out on the wrong side of the street.
The other maneuver is the parallel parking. Don't worry so much about it. You get a big space to park, and as long as you look back and go back slowly, it shouldn't be a problem for you.
And that's it. That's your road test. Usually six turns, three rights, three lefts, a park, a broken U-turn, and it's over in about 10 minutes.
Good Luck.
