Waterton Lakes National Park, Waterton Village, Canada
Waterton is one of my favorite camping, photography and hiking trips along with Banff, Jasper and Yosemite California. The picturesque little hamlet of Waterton is less than a 5 minute walk from the village campground. There are several good restaurants in town. Be sure to spend time strolling along the lakeshore; in the early evening you likely will come across deer. A visit to the Prince of Wales hotel is worthwhile and for those so inclined, they serve high tea in the afternoon. The boat cruise is a pleasant way to spend a few hours and learn about the history of Waterton and the International Peace Park. Plan for good hiking and photography at the end of the lake.
If you are camping and plan on cooking your own meals, bring food with you as the selection is extremely limited. The closest full grocery stores (a Co-op and a Walmart Supercentre) are in Pincher Creek about 40 miles North East of the town. The town has free WiFi throughout and it is even possible to connect from the campground. You must pay the entrance fee at the National Park in order to just visit the village. You must drive to the Red Rock Canyon as well within the Park. This is clearly a seasonal location, there is little evidence of permanent housing, most of the homes here seem to be seasonal residences, though a few may be permanent dwellings. Cute village to wander around in. Shopping, restaurants, art galleries and hiking. We enjoyed the hotdog restaurant, ice cream shop and walking along the lake. The best part? Waterton is decidedly low key – and despite the park’s popularity, you’ll never have to fight crowds while wandering the streets.

5 Things in Waterton Lakes National Park for First Timers
I list off 5 things to experience in Waterton if it's your first time going to the park. These must-see places include: The Bear's Hump hike, which is a steep climb that offers some of the best views in the park.
Red Rock Canyon, which is a canyon with red coloured red due to the high iron in the rock.
Cameron Falls, which is a large and impressive waterfall located in the town site.
Exploring the town site itself can prove to be a neat adventure, make sure you eat at some of the local restaurants (my personal favorites are Pizza of Waterton and the Big Scoop.
Last is Cameron Lake, a short drive from the town that offers incredible views and a chance to do the short hike to Akamina Lake.
I use the following equipment to make videos:
A Panasonic G7 at 4K/30fps, a GoPro Hero 4, and a DJI Phantom 3 4K.
Stabilized using a Glidecam XR1000, with camera mounted to a Manfrotto quick release plate

Waterton Lakes National Park - Alberta - Canada
Mon conjoint a préféré s'abstenir. J'y suis donc descendue seule.

My friend Jesse and I travel to Waterton Lakes National Park to camp at the Crandell Mountain Campground for 2 nights. While in the park we check out Red Rock Canyon, Cameron Falls, The Prince of Wales Hotel, The Waterton Village, and do the Bear's Hump Hike. It's an incredible place to experience nature, and I always see bears in the wild whenever I'm in Waterton as well!

Waterton Lakes National Park | Starlight and northern lights time lapse | Alberta, Canada
In Alberta, even the skies are amazing! And it’s not all because of nature. Well, mostly it is, but Alberta also has many places where light pollution is limited in order to maximize views of the night skies. You know what that means? Stunning stars, mind-blowing galaxies and the always-magical northern lights.
In this series of videos, photographers Jack Fusco (@jackfusco on Instagram) and Jeff Bartlett (@photojbartlett) visit Alberta’s best dark skies winter, when aurora borealis viewing is the best, to capture the province’s stunning night skies. The results? See for yourself.
In this video, Fusco and Bartlett capture Waterton Lakes National Park in the southwest corner of the province, which is part of the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, recognized by the International Dark-Sky Association as an International Dark Sky Park. Check out the playlist for the rest of the videos in the series, and read more about their adventure:

Mt. Galwey - Waterton Lakes National Park (Alberta, Canada)
2017-07-19 - Mt. Galwey may be short in overall distance but it packs a lot into the journey. The route to the south summit offers a steep hike, a brief ridge walk, a scree slope, easy scrambling to start with and then ends with some real hands on teeth-clenching excitement. The easiest access to the peak is the trailhead at the Coppermine Creek picnic area located along the Red Rock Parkway in Waterton Lakes National Park.
