Chemainus real estate: You’ll love charming Waterwheel Park
The beautiful Vancouver Island village of Chemainus has many great attractions, features and activities for those looking to live or invest in the area.
Featuring great dining, musical theatre, stunning murals, wonderful boating, excellent beachfront areas and more, Chemainus also has a beautiful park right in the centre of town!
In this episode of Black Press Media’s Impress Real Estate TV, host and award-winning realtor Debbie Simmonds showcases the iconic Waterwheel Park, a popular gathering spot and sightseeing destination.
“There is so much history in this area,” Debbie says, referring to the area’s rich past, including its logging and forest industries. The water wheel is a replica of what of would have been used decades ago to power local sawmills.
“This park is used extensively,” Debbie says. “There’s a bandshell where we have music festivals all summer long.”
Besides the bandshell, watersheel, picnic table and accessible washrooms, the park also features a 48-foot circular labyrinth designed so that people can walk on its path to relax and meditate.
“People like to go all over the world for labyrinths,” Debbie says. “Ours is right here and it’s another tremendous asset to this community.”

Prize guitar at the 2016 Chemainus Bluegrass Festival
There will be a draw at the Chemainus Bluegrass Festival on July 16 & 17 for this lovely guitar. It's a Yamaha FG700S, with solid sitka spruce top, rosewood fretboard, attractive binding and diecast tuning knobs. It looks great, it sounds good, and is nice to play. It comes with a gig bag, an electronic tuner, a couple of packs of picks, a quick-change capo, a strap and a fast winder for changing strings. The only way you can get it is by attending the Chemainus Bluegrass Festival on July 16 & 17, 2016, at Waterwheel Park, Chemainus. Thanks to the great folks at Long & McQuade in Nanaimo for this wonderful prize.

Chemainus Murals - Julia Askew, historical tour guide
There were 39 murals (maybe more now) painted on the walls of buildings which depict historic events or people from the town. We were toured around the town by none other than Julia Askew herself - although I did have my doubts as apparently Julia was born in 1871 and died in 1942. So she was either an imposter or a professional actress.
Anyway here are only a few snippets of the tour showing some of the murals and some of the dialogue as we enjoyed Chemainus, BC
