MY FIRST BORACAY EXPERIENCE IN THE PHILIPPINES... IN DAVAO!?
My First Ever Boracay Experience In The Philippines... But it was in DAVAO!?
Yes, there is a place called Little Boracay in Davao Occidental! Tucked away along the coast you can find a sandy cove with huts and good vibes! It may not be perfect white sand, but it was beautiful, it was local, the water was great, and everyone there was awesome!
This is Boracay... but a different style and in Southern Mindanao.
Davao Occidental is so raw and local... we had a great time exploring it on this hangover day. Mao na Diha!
Power On!

Subo Boracay: Have you tried Reconstructed Filipino Food by Chef Jian?
SUBO is a Filipino restaurant serving reconstructed Filipino food by Chef-Owner Jian Sacdalan, located along Calle Remedios in Station 3, Boracay. Former chef Sunny de Ocampo may have moved on to other projects, but the Subo concept lives on in the island.
The design and interiors are unlike any of the restaurants I’ve seen in Boracay. It's not your typical kanin sa kaldero-sabaw sa palayok kind of Filipino restaurant. Subo takes inspiration from well-known Filipino dishes and serves them in not-so-familiar ways.
Here’s what to expect at Subo Boracay…

FILIPINO BREAKFAST | DINIWID BEACH | BARBEQUING | BORACAY PHILIPPINES |
This was our first full day in Boracay Philippines. We are staying in an AirBnB that is a 5 minute walk to Diniwid beach. Rain went to the local market to buy food to cook for Breakfast. She challenge her self to spend 1000 pesos. We cooked breakfast at our villa and then we went to the beach. Yellow and Jasmine got their hair braided and we all enjoyed the clear blue water and the soft white sand. After the beach we washed up and went to our photoshoot but it stared to rain and we had to cancel. We went back to the villa and Barbequed instead.

D' Talipapa Seafood Wet Market Restaurants Station 2 Boracay Island. The seafood wet market of Boracay Island. Live Lobster, Crabs, Clams, Mussels, Scallops, Sea Urchin etc. can be found here cheaper than on White Beach restaurants. You have have it cooked at one of the many cooking restaurants for an additional cooking charge. While the seafood may be fresh, do not expect it to be cooked by a 5 star chef! Safe bets are baked oysters, scallops and steamed lobster and crabs. :-)

Boracay is a small island in the Philippines, 7 km long and 1 km wide, located approximately 315 kilometres (196 miles) south of Manila and 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) off the northwest tip of Panay Island in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines. Boracay has a populace of 32,267 individuals last recorded since February 2016. Boracay Island and its beaches have received awards from numerous travel publications and agencies.[Note 1] The island comprises the barangays of Manoc-Manoc, Balabag, and Yapak in the municipality of Malay, in Aklan Province. The island is administered by the Boracay Inter-agency Task Force. Apart from its white sand beaches, Boracay is also famous for being one of the world's top destinations for relaxation.[11][12] As of 2013, it was emerging among the top destinations for tranquility and nightlife.[13]
Boracay was awarded as the 2012 Best Island in the World by the international travel magazine Travel + Leisure.[14][15] In 2014, the resort island was at the top of the Best Islands in the World list published by the international magazine Condé Nast Traveler.[16] In 2016, Boracay headed the magazine's list of Top 10 destinations to watch.[17]
In April 2018, the Philippine Government decreed a 6-month closure of the island for tourists to undertake major renovation works, especially of the sewage system, which had become obsolete and insufficient.[18] It re-opened in October 2018, with a set of new rules meant to address a variety of issues.[19][20]
EtymologyEdit
The name Boracay is attributed to different origins. One story says that it is derived from the local word borac which means white cotton with characteristics close to the color and texture of Boracay's white sugary and powdery sand.[21] Ati tradition states that the name of the island came from the Inati words bora, meaning bubbles, and bocay, meaning white.[22] Yet another version dating back to the Spanish era says the name is derived from sagay, the word for a shell, and boray, the word for seed.[21]
Puka Beach on the northern shore of Boracay
Boracay Island is located off the northwest corner of Panay Island, and belongs to the Western Visayas island-group, or Region VI, of the Philippines. The island is approximately seven kilometers long, dog-bone shaped with the narrowest spot being less than one kilometer wide, and has a total land area of 10.32 square kilometers.
South-facing Cagban Beach is located across a small strait from the jetty port at Caticlan on Panay island, and the Cagban jetty port serves as Boracay's main entry and exit point during most of the year. When wind and sea conditions dictate, east-facing Tambisaan Beach serves as an alternative entry and exit point.[46] Boracay's two primary tourism beaches, White Beach and Bulabog Beach, are located on opposite sides of the island's narrow central area. White Beach faces westward and Bulabog Beach faces eastward. The island also has several other beaches.
White Beach, the main tourism beach, is about four kilometers long and is lined with resorts, hotels, lodging houses, restaurants, and other tourism-related businesses. In the central portion, for about two kilometers, there is a footpath known as the Beachfront Path separating the beach itself from the establishments located along it. North and south of the Beachfront Path, beachfront establishments do literally front along the beach itself. Several roads and paths connect the Beachfront Path with Boracay's Main Road, a vehicular road which runs the length of the island. At the extreme northern end of White Beach, a footpath runs around the headland there and connects White Beach with Diniwid Beach.
Bulabog Beach, across the island from White Beach, is the second most popular tourism beach on the island and Boracay's main windsurfing and kiteboarding area.
Boracay is divided for land use and conservation purposes into 400 hectares of preserved forestland and 628.96 hectares of agricultural land.[47][48][49][50][51][52]
The whole of Boracay island is under the jurisdiction of the town of Malay of Aklan province. There are three barangays in Boracay; Balabag, Manoc-Manoc, and Yapak.

Filipino Brits Eating in Boracay Part 3 - Review
It's a sad day as it's our last one in Boracay. We spent the whole day embracing the beach and taking in the views.
For dinner we visited D'Talipapa which is a local wet market that sells fresh fish, seafood and veg. Surrounding the market are an array of restaurants where they will cook your purchase just how you like it. What better food to have in a place like this!
Check out my review on Boracay as a whole where I advise:
how to get to the island from the airport,
where to eat and
what to do on the beach
Hope you find it useful and would love to hear your views on Boracay and welcome any other tips, just add it below!

Filipino Brits Eating in Boracay Part 1
This is a quick snippet of our first day in Boracay. What a beautiful place this is! We loved every single bit of it. The sand is so soft, the people are friendly and there are enough restaurants to definitely cater to what you want to eat.
We stayed in Station 1 which is the most scenic and peaceful out of the 3 stations. It was close enough to Station 2 in case we were on the hunt for some food. The hotel is called Lugar Bonito is an adorable Mediterranean style boutique hotel. Clean, with good AC - what else could you possibly need?! Th owner Chiqui was lovely and so were her staff.
First meal on the beach was in Mamita's grill where it served real Filipino food based on local recipes. Had the sizzling bulalo, sizzling sisig and fried chicken (obviously). The food was tasty and it was an experience to eat on the beach.

One Incredible Day in Boracay
Apart from my camera falling apart after the ATV ride, this was an one incredible day in Boracay!
Anton’s YouTube
00:29 Breakfast - For breakfast we started off at Discovery Shores Hotel, and we ate the breakfast buffet. The breakfast was alright, but a little small, and a little crowded, but nevertheless a good way to start the day. I especially enjoyed the smoked bangus.
1:45 Walk on White Sand Beach - After breakfast we started off walking down White Sand Beach, one of the most famous main attractions of Boracay - a 3 km stretch of white sand and beautiful beach. What I like most is that you can just walk down the beach and enjoy the
2:16 Willy’s Rock - One of the most famous landmarks in Boracay is Willy’s Rock, a chunk of coral that sits near the coastline. When it’s high tide the rock is submerged in water, but when it’s low tide the rock sits in the sand. At this point I was hot and ready to take a swim as well.
2:54 Taho Beach Food - As we were swimming, Anton flagged down a vendor selling taho, soft silken tofu. It made a good beach street food.
4:33 Calamansi muffin at Real Coffee Shop - As we were walking along Station 2 beach in Boracay, we stopped off at a place called Real Coffee, for a quick cup of coffee and a calamansi muffin. The muffin tasted a lot like lemon cake, and the coffee, was too weak for me, but alright. Real coffee is known as one of the original spots in Boracay, especially famous for their calamansi muffins.
7:13 Lunch at Sands Restaurant, Discovery Shores Boracay - For lunch we returned to Discovery Shores and had an amazing lunch at their Sands restaurant. They prepared all Filipino food, all of which was extremely good. I really enjoyed the kilawin, Filipino style ceviche, the lamb shank caldereta, and the Bacolod kansi, a beef shank soup. Everything was delicious, one of the better and best quality Filipino food meals I’ve ever had.
9:22 ATV Ride to the lookout viewpoint of Boracay / Paraw sailing ride - In the afternoon, continuing on this one day in Boracay, we took an ATV tour to one of the highest points on Boracay to see the view. It was a bit expensive. Unfortunately, this is where my camera broke.
12:33 Jonah’s Milkshakes - For afternoon snack, we stopped by Jonah’s Milkshakes and had an avocado mango milkshake, which was delicious, along with a chori burger.
14: 20 Boodle Fight for Dinner - For dinner, we returned back to the hotel where I was introduced to a Filipino feast called a boodle fight. All the food was placed in the middle of the table, and we all shared our dinner together as a family - it was amazing, both the food and the company.
Disclosure: We were invited to stay at Discovery Shores Boracay, so we didn’t pay for our stay. But everything in this video, and all thoughts are my own. Huge thank you to Discovery Shores Boracay - we had an amazing stay.

Lemoni Cafe - Awesome Restaurant in Boracay
- One of the coolest things about Monaco Suites de Boracay is the scheduled free shuttle service from our hotel to central Boracay. The shuttle stops at D'mall, right in the art of White Beach and a minute walk to some of the best restaurants and shops in Boracay. Make sure to spend some time walking around this area and exploring what Boracay has to offer away from the beach :) Here we are enjoying a leisurely breakfast at Lemon Cafe, an awesome western-style restaurant that offers amazing breakfast, shakes, sandwiches, soups and salads to die for!
