Bermuda Vacation 1971 Day of the Mopeds ~ Rental, Riding & A Crash at the Ducking Stool!
A short one for the moped enthusiasts.
We start on Front Street renting Mobylettes (Motoconfert 50V?) from J.B. Astwood and Son (at 77 Front Street which burnt in 2016 and is currently a vacant lot) and then takeoff in traffic. A stop across the street to get bearings and balance then its practice and a stop at the Ducking Stool on North Shore.
The Dunking Stool is a non-lethal from of punishment for nagging, gossiping & spreading false rumors in the 1600's. Its no longer in use which is a good thing as much of Bermuda is still guilty of these offences today!
It now resides in the town of St. Georges where re-enactments can be seen in the town square.
The Dunking Stool starts at 1:44
After a smoke break sitting in the Ducking Stool, we then practice riding a bit with someone crashing into a pump house on North Shore...... she is ok..

Bermuda Vacation 1960 ~ East By Road & West By Sea... Through the Swing bridge!
Staying at the Castle Harbour Hotel, this 1960 vacation starts in the garden and moves to Front Street - no Birdcage or helmets. Views from Hotel, pool & Castle Harbor. Golf and hotel grounds.
Great drive to Tom Moore's jungle, a stop in the parking lot and a look at Walsingham Bay. In the parking lot there is a black and a red Cyrus Standard with dual seat, cut fenders and Continental whitewall tyres (thanks Maurice).
The mandatory stop at the Aquarium penguins.
Boat cruise to Hamilton - leave hotel dock enjoying a cigar above deck and through the causeway swing bridge which is working that day! Past Martello Tower then offshore the NOB with Martin Mariner Flying Boats on dock and in the water. A cruise around the Great Sound with lunch (yummy reheated? fries) past the old Inverurie Hotel and a glimpse of the Queen of Bermuda at dock in Hamilton.
Views of St. Georges harbor from the balcony of the St. George Hotel and down the steps for a walk around the old town.
A quick visit to Windsor Beach in Tuckers Town and the back at the Hotel leaving on Mobylette's.
Some feedback from Tom Zimmerman about the MG Roadster in St. Georges Square: I was surprised to see the MG as it is the new Mark II with inset grille. I was in two Chesterfield (Liggett&Myers) cigarette TV commercials filmed in May/June 1960. The one had a sports car rally theme, A black MG Mark II and a red Austin Healey 3000 (both left hand drive) were brought in for the filming. I drove the the Healey and being red got the most screen time. I was wondering if the MG and Healey were eventually sold in Bermuda? The other commercial was horseback riding on the beach.

mmtuts is a YouTube channel that focuses on teaching beginner and advanced courses in various multimedia related skills.
We plan to make tutorials available on programming, video production, animation, graphic design, and on software such as the Adobe Creative Cloud programs.
PHP for beginners is a how to series that teaches the PHP coding language to people who are just starting out learning programming. The course teaches how PHP scripting can be made easy and teaches how to build many apps such as a login system, a comment section, how to upload images, how to create users in a website, and much more. Creating dynamic websites with PHP is easy and should not be seen as otherwise, which is why we want to explain the language in a easy to understand way for beginners.
If you have suggestions on new courses, or specific lessons within existing courses you would like to see, then feel welcome to submit them in the comment section or in a private message. ALL suggestions will be seen, but not all will be replied to since we get quite a few every day.

Fingerstyle Guitar, Online Success Part 1 of 2 (with Adam Rafferty) Ep054
Adam Rafferty is a jazz guitarist-turned fingerstyle guitarist who has found huge success through YouTube, as an online guitar-coach, and as a touring performer. Check out his awesome fingerstyle arrangements of tunes by Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, as well as jazz standards. Joe McMurray and Aaron Sefchick have the opportunity to talk with Adam about his journey, his internet success, his method of arranging for fingerstyle guitar, his gear, and his experiences with copyright law.
In part 1 of 2, Adam tells the guys about his career as a jazz guitarist and teacher in NYC and why he now spends the majority of his time touring throughout Europe with guys like Michael Fix, Don Ross, and Petteri Sariola. Then he talks about the early days of YouTube, how he tries to stand out in an oversaturated online video market, his stint working as a computer programmer, and his Fingerstyle Guitar Hangout podcast.
The next topic is how Adam arranges for fingerstyle guitar: capturing the bass and melody lines and making sure it grooves. He also has a thorough knowledge of Bach 4-part harmony and utilizes it in his arrangements.
Find out more about Adam Rafferty at: or and on Facebook at He also hosts the Fingerstyle Guitar Hangout podcast.

Auburn Coach Wife Kristi Malzahn Agrees with Match & eHarmony: Men are Jerks
My advice is this: Settle! That's right. Don't worry about passion or intense connection. Don't nix a guy based on his annoying habit of yelling Bravo! in movie theaters. Overlook his halitosis or abysmal sense of aesthetics. Because if you want to have the infrastructure in place to have a family, settling is the way to go. Based on my observations, in fact, settling will probably make you happier in the long run, since many of those who marry with great expectations become more disillusioned with each passing year. (It's hard to maintain that level of zing when the conversation morphs into discussions about who's changing the diapers or balancing the checkbook.)
Obviously, I wasn't always an advocate of settling. In fact, it took not settling to make me realize that settling is the better option, and even though settling is a rampant phenomenon, talking about it in a positive light makes people profoundly uncomfortable. Whenever I make the case for settling, people look at me with creased brows of disapproval or frowns of disappointment, the way a child might look at an older sibling who just informed her that Jerry's Kids aren't going to walk, even if you send them money. It's not only politically incorrect to get behind settling, it's downright un-American. Our culture tells us to keep our eyes on the prize (while our mothers, who know better, tell us not to be so picky), and the theme of holding out for true love (whatever that is—look at the divorce rate) permeates our collective mentality.
Even situation comedies, starting in the 1970s with The Mary Tyler Moore Show and going all the way to Friends, feature endearing single women in the dating trenches, and there's supposed to be something romantic and even heroic about their search for true love. Of course, the crucial difference is that, whereas the earlier series begins after Mary has been jilted by her fiancé, the more modern-day Friends opens as Rachel Green leaves her nice-guy orthodontist fiancé at the altar simply because she isn't feeling it. But either way, in episode after episode, as both women continue to be unlucky in love, settling starts to look pretty darn appealing. Mary is supposed to be contentedly independent and fulfilled by her newsroom family, but in fact her life seems lonely. Are we to assume that at the end of the series, Mary, by then in her late 30s, found her soul mate after the lights in the newsroom went out and her work family was disbanded? If her experience was anything like mine or that of my single friends, it's unlikely.
And while Rachel and her supposed soul mate, Ross, finally get together (for the umpteenth time) in the finale of Friends, do we feel confident that she'll be happier with Ross than she would have been had she settled down with Barry, the orthodontist, 10 years earlier? She and Ross have passion but have never had long-term stability, and the fireworks she experiences with him but not with Barry might actually turn out to be a liability, given how many times their relationship has already gone up in flames. It's equally questionable whether Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw, who cheated on her kindhearted and generous boyfriend, Aidan, only to end up with the more exciting but self-absorbed Mr. Big, will be better off in the framework of marriage and family. (Some time after the breakup, when Carrie ran into Aidan on the street, he was carrying his infant in a Baby Björn. Can anyone imagine Mr. Big walking around with a Björn?)
