012 - We visit the Wedgwood Museum at Naturally Narrowboating
Staffordshire in the UK is the centre of the pottery industry and is known as The Potteries. We went to visit one of the famous brands.... Wedgwood.
A brilliant day out and very informative with very pleasant & welcoming staff.
The museum is free although we paid for the guided tour which lasted about an hour. You can also go through the factory and again a guided tour is available but we went around ourselves.
You can find more details on their website.

Wedgwood museum up for top art prize
By Tom Kingham : AWARD winning British director Lord Puttnam was in Stoke-on-Trent to judge the competition to win a coveted art prize. Visitor numbers to the Wedgewood museum in Barlaston was hit by rumours that it was affected by the collapse of the pottery giant, which has seen been bought out by American firm KPS Capital. Proving these rumours are well and truly not true was the announcement that the museum was nominated for the Art Fund Prize. Tom Kingham has more.

Wedgwood and the British Fashion Council: Headonism
Wedgwood has invited each of the four Headonism milliners to create a contemporary, and unique tea cosy for a Wedgwood teapot. The designers visited the Wedgwood factory in Barlaston, Stoke-on-Trent, and were given privileged access to the Wedgwood pattern and china archives. Drawing inspiration from over 250 years’ heritage of craftsmanship and design, they have been asked to apply their own personal aesthetic and manufacturing approach to create a one-off tea cosy masterpiece.
Wedgwood Factory & Museum Tours & Pottery Class
World of Wedgwood - Barlaston, Stoke-on-Trent
I loved touring the Factory and recognising the hard work that goes into making dining sets and all shapes and sizes of pots, cups, saucers etc. It was especially lovely to see the craftsmen working in the Factory Tour who clearly loved what they do, some of whom have done it for over many decades.
The strong heritage of the brand is very appealing as well as the creation of the items. This was clear in the Museum Tour as well because as we walked from room to room we discovered fascinating facts about the family Wedgwood. We noted the pieces that have been so important to the brand throughout history, such as the Jasper sets that they're so famous for. Be sure to visit the museum and find the Queen's dining and tea set that she used for her coronation.
After some lovely afternoon tea we went for a crafting session. You can see Bianca (blogger at and I are posing in front of the Master Craft Studio where we had a really fun pottery class. I loved making mine and I can't wait to paint it :)
