December 2015. I packed enough food and all the equipment for mountaineering and walked alone passing by the Welcome Flat Hut towards the Copland Pass to have a look on the mountains. After three days of walking and reaching the pass I slipped and hurt my leg. I was really lucky that it was not too bad...

Amazing natural hotsprings in New Zealand backcountry (Горячие источники) - Welcome Flat hike
We went on an amazing overnight hiking trip on the stunning New Zealand West Coast. We hiked through the gorgeous rain forest along a mountain river with bright turquoise water, occasionally crossing vertigo-inspiring one-person swing bridges.
And if this doesn't sound nice enough, there were beautiful natural hot springs minutes away from our camping spot.
Overall, it was a very lovely backpacking trip!

Copland Track in December 2016
The Copland Track is a hiking track in the Westland National Park on the South Island of New Zealand. The track is managed by the Department of Conservation (DOC) and is categorised as an easy tramp.
The stretch of the track leading up to Welcome Flat is the most commonly taken. It is a 17,8 km tramp one way with about a 450 meter climb in total.
At Welcome Flats, trampers can enjoy a soak in the natural hot springs, which have been the lure of this area for more than a hundred years.
After a good soak, trampers may spend the night in Welcome Flat Hut which has 31 bunks which must be booked in advanced at DOC.

In March 2017, we decided to go and find a hike that had hot pools at the end of it :) So we set out for the Copland Track, a famous tramp on the (lush) West Coast.

Flights: We travelled with AirNZ using their Skycouch which was so kindly gifted. I promised myself that having Jax didn’t mean i would stop doing the things i love & travelling is one of them. NZ has had a huge piece of my heart ever since we travelled here 5 years ago and we knew we wanted to come back with Jax so decided that this month will be my maternity leave (as i never had any) and can’t wait to share this trip with you! We flew @airnz after i fell in love with the airline when i flew to LA pregnant last year! They very kindly gifted us their Skycouch which is a row of economy seats that can be turned into a couch after takeoff, meaning that you can stretch out/sleep or simply let your little one crawl around and play without worrying they’ll fall off the seat. Wilderness Peak 4 Motorhome/Campervan/RV Tour in New Zealand ????
Welcome everyone~! This is a tour of our Motorhome/Campervan we used in New Zealand, South Island for our Honeymoon. We had rented Peak 4 under Wilderness Motorhomes.
It was 7.4m long, the Peak 4 is the biggest in their fleet! The Vehicle is they used is under Fiat Ducato 2.3L Injet Turbo Diesel. It has a 6-speed auto transmission.
The safety of the motorhome/campervan has ABS, dual airbags and central locking. Its dimensions are L 7.4m, W 2.3m, H 2.9m, internal height 2.1m where it can hold up to 4 people.
If space is important to you then look no further. What’s more, you even have three different bed configurations so whatever sleeping arrangement you prefer, there are chances that this motorhome/campervan will deliver.
It has two singles in the rear and on top of that, the singles can be set up into a king-size bed. A double bed that drops down over the living area and you’ve got loads of options.
Worry about entertainment? They are equipped with CD/DVD/MP3 player, 19 screen, USB input for external HDD and Aux, FM transmitter for surround sound.
Cooking would not be a problem as they have 3 burner gas hob, oven/grill, and extractor fan. A big capacity of 138L fridge and 29L freezer to hold all your groceries.
It would be comfortable in winter or summer with lots of windows, full insulation, and a powerful 240V gas/heater.
The power would not be a problem if you are using it to charge your gadgets when the motorhome/campervan was on the go. It has 240V for the mains, 12V battery and 12V to 240V inverter. But if you would park at a location and freedom camping for a few days, we would recommend you to park at Holiday Parks. Power runs out of us on our freedom camping.
They have a combined bathroom with a separate shower area with only 10L of hot water and 122L of cold water. So please use the hot water wisely by shower first before cooking.
They provide transfer from the airport or your airport hotel at the start and end of hire. So please dial 0508 294533 at Christchurch's phone booth or look for the information counter at the airport.
Like the hotel, they including sheets, duvets (doonas), blankets, pillows, and as many towels and tea towels as you like.
Full LGP gas bottle plus crockery, kitchen utensils, coffee plunger, kettle, toaster, clothes hangers, line and pegs, dishcloth and brush,
dustpan and brush, water refilling hose, toilet chemicals, toilet paper roll, and fire extinguisher.

Copland Track - Welcome Flat Hut Tramp
A few mates and I walked the Copland track in south Westland, New Zealand, during early August for a weekend trip away to the hot pools. A rifle was brought for hunting but no animals were taken.

This October after finishing work for the winter season a group of friends and I hiked the Copland Track to Welcome Flat hut and hot springs. I'd forgotten to back up the existing footage from the memory card on my GoPro and only had 8 minutes of memory space remaining to film the quoted 7 hour hike to the hut. This is what I came up with.

Hiking The Copland Track - New Zealand

We did our best. We came. We saw. We conquered (sort of). After a 7.5 hour, 18 kilometer hike to the Copland Springs and Welcome Flat Hut, we ate, snoozed, woke up, and again, and set out for day two. This was a huge challenge for both of us, as we are not experienced hikers at all. Day two took us a bit over 7 hours as well. Several blisters, and a few tears later, we made it back to our van.
