Wellington City Council Town Hall Concert Organ
History of the Wellington Town Hall organ.
Built in 1906, it is one of only a few original Edwardian pipe organs in the world. It is renowned for its sound quality and historical value.
The organ has been removed for cleaning and restoration work while the Town Hall is earthquake strengthened. Watch a time-lapse video of its removal here:

Wellington - City Video Guide
Wellington is the political, cultural and culinary capital of Aotearoa as the Māori call New Zealand. The compact city spills out of the mountains and overlooks Cook Strait.
In the world's southernmost capital fresh ocean winds seem to bring in waves of creativity. Civic Square is an eclectic mix of artworks and houses the elegant Town Hall, while Cuba Street is the place to go for shopping. The waterfront is dotted with craft beer bars and restaurants.
The country's cultural heritage is explained in the beloved Te Papa National Museum. Other good museums in Wellington are the Carter Observatory and the Museum of Wellington City and Sea. On the Miramar Peninsula, the Weta Workshop shows paraphernalia of famous Sir Peter Jackson movies, including Lord of the Rings and King Kong.
In Wellington's city center stand the neoclassical Parliament House and it executive wing, called the Beehive. From Lambton Quay, the iconic Wellington Cable Car leads to the Botanic Garden. Shuttle buses drop visitors off at Zealandia, a reserve for the region's unique flora and fauna.
Kia ora! Let Wellington be your stepping stone to both the North Island and the South Island of New Zealand.

Dance Performance at Japan Festival 2012 in Wellington Town Hall
C-walking around downtown Wellington and happened to poke my head into Town Hall at the right time. Caught a dance performance by a Japanese crew based in Australia. I didn't catch the crew's name, but the MC said they've been hiphopping for a long time. I only caught that they're from Ace Dance Studio in Sydney (
The Lord's My Shepherd, Wellington Town Hall Grand Organ
During June 2012, I had the opportunity to practice on the Wellington Town Hall Pipe Organ. Whilst I love pipe organs, I'm very much an amateur organist, so please take that into consideration when you hear unintended pauses or mistakes :)
This hymn is called 'The Lord's My Shepherd', also known as 'Crimond', and is taken from The Salvation Army Hymn Tune Book.
