UK Norwich, Norfolk - River Wensum, Cathedral, Cycle Ride *Hidden Gems* Filmed With Insta360 One X
I take a cycle ride along the beautiful River Wensum in Norwich, Norfolk. A part of the city of Norwich I urge all visitors and tourists to see.
There are some hidden gems along the way including Cow Tower, Pulls Ferry and the Norwich Cathedral grounds.
There are various pubs and restaurants along the way to eat and drink at. From small pubs like The Mischief on Magdalen Street, The Red Lion near Norwich Cathedral, and also larger establishments at Riverside.
Whether you walk, cycle or canoe this route on your Norwich visit, you certainly won't regret it.

Starting at the former location of Norwich City Station, I continue with my walk along the River Wensum in Norwich. The river system in East Anglia used to be much larger and Norwich was as far inland as sea going vessels could go. The river is tidal to Norwich but not beyond it, now it is tidal as far as New Mill Sluice.
We can no longer see Viking remains in Norwich but we can see homes from the sixteenth century and those that remind us that the city was once a port. Its initial wealth was based on the wool trade which made up a significant part of the GDP of England as it existed in medieval times.
The dominant building materials are brick and flint. Flint is too weak to be used for construction but it can be used as infill or combined with brick for strength.
Norwich was home to the Yorvik shoe factory, the largest footwear producer in the UK. There was a tradition of shoe and leather manufacture along the northern bank of the Wensum river which Yorvik managed to exploit in the nineteenth century. The fate of Norvik was shared by many industrial businesses in the UK.
