Beauty of Zhejiang: The booming economy and the ‘crazy smart people’, all in Wenzhou
#BeautyofZhejiang: The booming economy and the ‘crazy smart people’, all in Wenzhou
Located near the middle of the East China Sea coastline, the city of Wenzhou (Chinese: 温州) is the third largest city in Zhejiang Province and the economic, cultural and transportation center of southern Zhejiang. Wenzhou is frequently used by Western media as a barometer of the Chinese export economy; among other things, Wenzhou manufactures around 90% of the world's spectacles and massive quantities of shoes.
Wenzhou was a prosperous foreign treaty port, which remains well-preserved today. It is situated in a mountainous region and, as a result, has been isolated for most of its history from the rest of the country, making the local culture and language very different from those of neighboring areas.
Apart from booming economy and developed society, the city is famed for its fascinating scenery and rich tourism resources. It possesses three famous state level scenic spots, namely Yandang Mountain, Nanxi River and Feiyun Lake. Other popular attractions include the Nanji Islands National Nature Reserve, the Xiandu Scenic Area and the Xianju Scenic Area.
The city is also widely known for its intelligent Wenzhounese people, a subgroup of Oujiang Wu Chinese speaking peoples. Wenzhounese have made a name for themselves for fluent business and money making skills. The area has a large diaspora population in land for Europe and the United States, with a reputation for being enterprising natives who start restaurants, retail and wholesale businesses in their adopted countries. Wenzhounese people have also made notable contributions to mathematics and technology.

We Went To The Fake Sneaker Capital Of China (HBO)
After the sun sets in Putian, thousands of bikes carrying fake sneakers hit the streets.
The lace-up black market is no secret in Putian, and it's where you can find Chan, a vendor with a knack for getting high-quality pairs off the streets and into the hands of hypebeasts on the other side of the globe.
With rubber, he struck gold.
I've spoken to some of our customers some of them are high school students some are college students university students. So yeah these are our main crowd you generally, Chan told VICE News. It's usually the kids themselves were very resourceful. They understand about replicas they understand that these are high-quality sneakers and they come finding you saying, hey I'd like to buy some high-quality replicas from you.
And while vendors are subject to police raids and potential lawsuits, Chan has been able to stay afloat. These days, the only thing slowing his business down is nitpicky sneakerheads.
Unfortunately, it's just the hard and fast rules of doing business. You meet difficult customers. You'll meet cheaters, you meet scammers who will be out there to cheat you off a pair of shoes, Chan said. So, unfortunately, this kind of thing happens, especially when you're on a public domain like the Internet.
VICE News met up with Chan at his headquarters to see how his business is racing ahead.

Three decades of economic liberalization have radically changed the face of China. With the number of Chinese billionaires increasing rapidly, the red ideals of the past may have been discarded forever.
You can never have enough money. Money helps me fulfill my dreams, says Li Chao, for whom expensive hobbies like motor racing are no longer out of reach. He represents a new generation of pioneering red capitalists: immodest, accustomed to success and able to spend more money in one luxury evening in Shanghai or Beijing than others can earn in a year. Others, like the real estate developer Wang Dafu, were born into poverty, but are fast becoming the embodiment of the Chinese dream. When I started working I sometimes couldn't afford a beer and a bowl of noodles. His personal fortune is now estimated at half a billion Euros. With more and more people splashing the cash the Chinese auto market is now the largest in the world, the luxury goods market is huge and the art market is booming. This is life in the new China and it's one focused on a particularly unique ideology; what one party member labels, socialism with Chinese characteristics. But not everyone is happy with the way things are going. The Communist Party is nothing but a capitalist party through and through.

Chinese wholesale market/mall w 23 Floors. Yes. It's real. It felt like walking thru Alibaba .com lol... I think a lot of the sellers in here are just wholesalers who take orders from sites like Aliexpress.com, alibaba.com, globalsources.com and other wholesale sites around the world.. bc they are always packing up boxes ...... well everywhere around the outskirts of the city of Guangzhou all you see are people moving boxes around haha..... was this better than just scouting for new product ideas on Alibaba.com? Not sure.. sometimes you can get lucky and find that amazingly cool thing.. but that can happen online too.... nonetheless it was a good experience to try out and see what the wholesale scene it all about.
...then we get a bite of some Chinese food, and end it with a preview of the next video, nightlife at O2 club at Party Pier.. click to watch next!

The WORST Foreign Teachers Teach in Chinese Universities?
Chinese Universities pay way less than private schools. That's because people in charge would rather save the money for themselves...

Luxury brands market to Chinese parents
Luxury firms are turning to smaller and smaller customers these days, looking to cash in on China's little emperors and empresses with a range of glitzy outfits. With luxury goods sales slowing along with the economy in the Chinese mainland, the growing children's market is offering opportunities to businesses which may have overlooked this segment before. CCTV America's Dong Yiling took a closer look.

Is having a baby in china as bad as they say?? My experience from start to finish
So when my oldest son was born herein Wenzhou China I hadn't started making videos yet, in fact him being born was pretty much one of the things that gave me the final push to start making videos. Anyway this time around I thought I'd document the whole process and show you guys so you can see that having a baby in China can actually be no problem at all. I know there's many people that would say otherwise, and we all have different experiences. But both times have been a really great and positive experience.
