Wertheim Castle - Once the domicile of the Counts of Wertheim, the castle is one of the most picturesque ruins in Germany. In 1618 the castle was partly destroyed by an explosion; during the Thirty Years' War in 1634 and 1647 it was under heavy fire.
Heidelberg Castle is a ruin in Germany and landmark of Heidelberg. The castle ruins are among the most important Renaissance structures north of the Alps. The castle has only been partially rebuilt since its demolition in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Our all day visit of Wertheim was much too short. We loved bon-apart, a gallery of fine collectibles & glassblowing demonstrations, where all items were made in Wertheim by the Ittig family (7 generations of glassmaking). Their shop is not to be missed. I especially liked the large selection of Crookes radiometers or light mills, one of which we bought & is shown operating in the video.
