West Cape Howe NP near Albany. offers a great beach at Shelleys Beach, and for the adventurous 4wd owner, fabulous 4wd tracks to fishing spots, cliffs that are a rock climbers paradise, and the lovely Dunsky Beach. We had a look in Feb 2013

4wd Albany West Cape Howe - Part 1

This is the track to get to the Southern tip of West Cape Howe in WA. We only got about halfway down the track before our clutch started to burn and we still had to drive back to Sydney, so we gave up and headed back. However, if you're after a fun 4WD track this is a good one.

About 25 mins drive from Denmark. Beautiful view, go up to the lookout with the hang glider platforms and take it all in the gorgeous beach, turquoise water, whitest sand, and the lovely whales are stunning.

The Sandpatch beach sits on Albany's southern side looking out to the Southern Ocean. It is home to Albany's Windfarm power project and from the boardwalk you get vistas look east to Sharp Point and West to Cosy Corner beach and West Cape Howe. Dolphin frequent the area as well as the occasional winter whale and also the occasional surfer

This week we meet up with our friends in Albany, Brad & Lauren. They have flown over from the East Coast to spend 9 days exploring the South West of WA.

Our first stop is of course a brewery, Brad being and brewer himself and Matt's brother owning a brewery means we will be visiting a lot of breweries in the next week.

Our camp spot for the night is on the Hay River & fair to say its one of the best camps we've had all trip. The next day we explore West Cape Howe NP & hit up some of the 4x4 tracks

Some raw footage of us exploring West Cape Howe National Park. It's long but it's original footage with no editing and if your wanting to explore the area it's good viewing to see what your up for. Some of the tracks are closed during wet periods but the tracks are pretty good with some of the harder sections having rubber/plastic to help with traction. If more people bothered to let their tyre pressures down to appropriate levels then the traction matting wouldn't be needed. The views from the cliffs here are amazing.
