Chongqing, China: China's Hidden Travel Gem
Chongqing is a city in China known for its hills, fog, and spicy food. It's kind of like Hong Kong, but with a much more laid-back vibe that’s characteristic of the Sichuan basin region. I went here with a few friends and decided to make this little travel vlog. Hope you enjoy!

This is the amazing waterfall building in Guiyang City, China
Residents in Guiyang city, south-west China thought they were imagining things when they saw a massive waterfall cascading out of a high-rise building in the middle of the street. Like a mirage out of nowhere, the towering artificial waterfall stands 108 metres (350 feet) tall on the outside of Liebian Building located at a public plaza in the city's central business district. A large tank is installed at the foot of the 121-meter (397-foot) high skyscraper, where four 185-kilowatt pumps lift the water to the top of the fall.

Eating COW'S HEAD and weird things in Guiyang China
Vlog of a work trip I had in Guiyang, China and ended up seeing/eating lots of crazy stuff - Pig's intestines and blood noodles, cow's head, fish mint roots, sticker back tortoises, and coke chicken drumlets from Macdonalds. Despite the craziness, there was still really good food and amazing scenery from the countryside.

In China, Guizhou is a special province
In China, Guizhou is a special province
Located in China’s southwestern inland, it’s the sole province in China that has no plains. It’s a well-known destination for mountain tourism. As home to people from all the 56 ethnic groups of China, Guizhou has a lot of unique historical and cultural treasures. It’s the bridgehead of big data industry in China’s western region, also, the origin of the national liquor—Maotai. It contains the world’s most beautiful karst terrains and 85 state-level intangible cultural heritage sites. Those that haven’t set foot on this land cannot imagine how amazing and beautiful here is. The stories happening here cannot be found elsewhere. #Guizhou #LiveinGuizhou #Guizhou

5 Must-Eats! STREET FOOD - Guiyang, China
Hands-down Guiyang was the biggest surprise when it came to amazing Chinese street food. Going in, I didn't really know anything about their food. I thought it would be similar to Sichuan food. While they do have their own version of lazi ji (spicy chicken), most of what I ate was completely different than what you get in Sichuan.
First off, I had some late night fried rice from a random stand down an alley. There are a ton of alleys lined with street food in Guiyang. I ordered a bowl of Guailu fried rice, which sort of means unusual or free-style. The idea is that the taste can't be pinned down. It's a little spicy, a little sweet, a bit smokey, salty, and sour. The combination of Chinese bacon, pickled green beans, chili paste, and sweet Chinese sausage. It was probably in the top 5 fried rices I've ever tried.
The next day I immediately went to a stall that I had read about a few times while doing my research. They serve a snack called 包饼油条 (Baobing Youtiao). It's a freshly fried up dough stick wrapped in a chili covered pancake thing. They add green onions and houttuynia, the stem from fish mint. It's a very popular item in Guiyang. They eat it for health reasons and because they like the taste of it. Inside the wrap, I barely tasted it. The crispiness from the youtiao was the highlight. The sweet and spicy paste also was great.
Just a bit further down Zhengxin Street there's a stand that sells baozi. It's called 俞记安顺 (Yuji Anshun). Their steamed buns are special though - and perhaps the best I've ever had. They are incredibly flakey, they practically pull apart in strings. They call them 破酥包, which sort of translates to broken baos. I believe their made similar to a puff pastry or shortbread where small pockets of oil or butter is layered throughout the dough. The result is amazing. I had their plain one with no filling and it wasn't dry at all. I also tried their fresh meat bao and their salted veggie bao. All were delicious.
After a rest in the park, where I witnessed some awesome recreational activities of the area, I went to 丝恋 (Silk Love). It's a popular chain restaurant in Guiyang. They make a delicious Guiyang specialty that can't be missed. It's called 丝娃娃 (si wawa). The name translates to something like shredded babies. You get a bunch of trays of shredded vegetables - some are pickled, some just raw - and you layer them in a little wrapper, roll it up like a baby, and add some dipping sauce (made with oil, broth, spices, and vinegar). They're fresh tasting with a nice sourness to them. I also got a potato pancake that was to die for. It was essentially a patty of mashed potatoes that was fried crispy on either side. It was served with chili flakes, green onion, and even peanuts. This restaurant has a ton of locations. Make sure you make it to one while you're in Guiyang. Their website:
Finally, I woke up the next day and went for my first bowl of Guiyang style noodles. One of the most popular noodle soups in Guiyang is called Changwang noodles (肠旺面). It's made with intestine and blood, but don't let that bother you. There's also bits of pork belly in it, an incredible chicken broth, chili oil, green onions, and egg noodles. The place I went to does their own twist on Changwang noodles. The bowl I had blew my mind. It was so flavourful. I got a fried egg on top along with a giant piece of fried tofu. For the best bowl of noodles in Guiyang, head to Southgate Intestines (南门口肠旺面). It's located 153 Xiaguo Rd.
That's it for Guiyang. I'm headed back to Chengdu, Sichuan.

Chongqing & Guiyang
